For me, Adrian Wimmer's Spinosaurus (#3) is the definitive version at this point. The only questionable bit is the pronounced overbite - but even that is fairly well-supported, as detailed on Jaime Headden's blog.

I have seen restorations with lips and without them. I guess we can't say for sure how it looked. But the most prominent depictions look like this:

The upper teeth are exposed and the ones on the end of the lower jaw also thank to the notch on the upper jaw.

Or maybe this, with less teeth exposed:

And here´s one with lips and speculative feathers:

The first two images there I have for references, the first one by Bonadonna especially.    I'll quote all the images so they carry over to the next page.

Mine's mouth is open enough to be making a slight roar,  so a closed position isnt a  huge issue.  I ended up doing a few off set, to show damage/age like with Krentz Sideshow Rex, I didn't want a too perfect smile.

Spino #2 in the above post looks the most beleivable to me. Youd think the critter would have the capability to shut its lips in back, sealing its mouth while still having the front teeth exposed for catching fish.

As for your littlefoot, I think they were just going for a seriously juvenile look on the character. If you do make one, try to keep some of  the look so that he still looks like littlefoot. Maybe also look at some of the toys released of him. The pizza hut puppets are pretty good models to go off of too. If you dont have any I can take pics of mine for you.

Honestly, if you could pull off a strong enough sculpture, a set of land before time babies would be a killer attraction for kids to be able to climb on and get photos with.

That does make sense, I don't see how on earth those big teeth in the front could be covered by lips..just like with Ceratosaurus.

They probably were at that.  I have a head cut out at 8" should make an almost 6' baby long neck.  Just trying to figure how much to push the character and still make it realistic.  I have Ducky done and ready for eyes now, I skipped her nostril bulge though as I couldn't find any juvenile hadrosaurs with it.   I have a few, I'm a BIG LBT fan too..lol     I wish I could make them so they climb on them.  I'm really just going to do this random scene with "facts" about Three Horns, Long Necks, Big Mouths, ect.. on the sign.  Call it the Great Adventure or A Most Unusual Herd.   Something ironic/cute.

Cool, I'll give that a read.  I went mostly based on a skull recreated by Tyler Keillor, he provided me references, and the art Davide did of the new Spino.  I've no problem with feathers on a reconstruction, but I don't see all those teeth covered..in the new reconstruction the neck is more swan like and longer as well.   I could see the overbite, one references I saw talked about how the tip could be shaped to lock together so I tried to recreate that .

I think the Spinosaurus itself would be more sufficient to deter break-ins...
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Thanks bud!   I was a little concerned about how long the neck appears but it matches the reconstructions..I think it's due more to how the chest isn't nearly as wide and defined anymore in the new findings.

lol you come by here i might you to work.. heh heh  no dino-fan escapes!   ;D    Thanks bud, let's see...plywood,2x4 was about 200.00, wire around 140.00, the vinyl skin is donated, i paid mt cousin 20.00 to go get it.  foam , 3.00 a can, 20 cans, 60.00.   one 50.00 tub of screws.  70.00 in apoxie sculpt, eyeballs were 55.00 for taxidermy/quality ones, paint will be another 100 or so...so around 700.00, not counting labor, we work for free. The lift we have to rent saturday to get her up is going to add another 500.00 on that.  We stillnhave to add thematic elements like the broken fencing and camo netting too.

ummm yes and no.   Which orange do you mean?   There is a bright orange that the material has as a color when we start, we are painting it a much darker orange so its not as bright as the juvenile.
