Nothing against Dracorex but Stygimoloch has some great head spines. Look forward to seeing this one done.  ^-^

That's true ! I'm certainly not disappointed..given they are roughly the same size my figures and measurements will still work. ;)

Now those spines and spikes have me a little concerned..hopefully I can pull them off.. lol

Weaver

YES, This is good. I am excited for this one! *going to watch closely*

Stygimoloch is a good pick, can't wait to see the finished sculpt  :D

Thanks guys. I wish I had a nice large figure to work from..it's  al little hard to tell just where all the spikes go.  I should have the base coating done in a few days. Then I'll start on the horns. I'm still trying to decide on what eyes to use as well.

I was considering these :  http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/A24LPL-P5800.aspx

Thought you might like this link. It shows you how to make your own custom eyes and it's surprisingly easy. Would be great for your dinos or other creatures.

Interesting..I wonder if UV rays effect them ? Like bleach them out ?  I've painted some yellow eyes before and the sun kills them.. :/  Might have to give this a test though.

Hmm..that could be an issue. These might not work for outside displays but would be great for indoors.(Halloween ideas?) I'm going to try this technique in a smaller scale by making molds with small glass balls. BTW - I really like VanDykes, they are fast at shipping and very helpful with my questions. (Even the weird ones  ;D)

Could certainly work for my indoor Halloween pieces !

I haven't had a question yet for VD but they do ship very quickly and keep you notified as well. :)

Here's an idea..would they maybe work for the Chubby Allosaurus ?  Or would that be to small you think ?  I haven't seen one of those yet with glass eyes of any sort.

VD does ship very quick and I remember getting tracking info. I never thought about glass eyes in the Shapeways figures, worth a try maybe? The bird eyes I think have pretty small mm sizes. I'll look today.

I think mine had tracking..but it shipped so quick i never used it..lol  Yeah most of the bird eyes are pretty small..a plus in this case , but a negative usually for me where i use 22-26mm .   ^-^

Wow those look cool! :o

Is the Allo the biggest therapod you've done so far?

The Kentro's really coming along nicely. :)

The Stygimoloch head looks like it'd make an awesome Halloween mask! ;D

It's certainly taller and overall more massive than my juv. Gorgosaurus. I'm not sure about the length just yet but I was ballparking around 21' or so..which would be just about as long as the Gorgo.

It's tough going..temp was around 30 today with the wind chill. it's hard to work while freezing..lol

I'm going with some big horns on this guy..based on this art :

I have done a mask..one of my klown pieces was built around a football helmet...might do a dino one at some point. ;)

Cool stigymoloch as always  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Thanks Jetoar !

It's coming along...I think an Ankylosaurus will be next. ;)

Any good reference pics are appreciated..especially ones showing the width of this big guy from the front, back , and top .

Weaver

I think Stygi is going to come and live with me. One night, in the moonlight, it will come alive and run to live with me. In my front yard. Scaring the neighbors' dogs and beating up the mountain lions. Yep. That's exactly how it's going to play out. ;)
