I'm in the UK and the closest I've gotten to finding a CollectA dinosaur in a shop was one of their swan figures. Admittedly I dont travel far afield very often, but sometimes even Schleichs seem like a rarity amongst the abundance of 'Megasaurs'.
Ugh, Megasaurs are just terrible!

CityRaptor

Overpriced Chinasaurs.

Might be an UK situation. Here in Germany Schleichs even outnumber Chinasaurs in stores. Megasaurs are only sold at TK MAXX.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Megasaurs seem to be everywhere here too. Safari and Collecta here seems nothing but a wild dream.

TomWToyForum

My local toystore sells almost entirely Schleich, but stocks a few Papo here and there. Michael's the arts and crafts store sells Safari LTD figures, including some dinosaurs. Mostly I'm forced to just order things from online.

Never knew that Schleich was so aggressive in their marketing. It makes their figures even grosser now.

Well, you don't get to be the biggest bully in the playground by playing nice ;)

tyrantqueen, may I ask where the Ankylosaurus with tiny dromaeosaurs animation is from?
I'm sure I've seen it before, but can't remember which documentary it was. It's lovely!

Hehehe. Schleich is like an invasive species, I suppose.

Sure. It's from Dinosaur Revolution/Dinotasia. The episode is called "End Game".

:D Thanks! I have to watch it again.

Well in Scotland where I live, I have literally never, ever seen a CollectA for sale in a shop. The general situation in your average toy shop is Schleich and Chinasaurs, perhaps some Papos if you're very lucky. Museum shops tend to favour Papo as well. On the whole, though, Schliech really are an invasive species (having said which I do have some of their extant animals, their Pentaceratops and their 2010 Parasaurolophus, the latter of which being my favourite model of that animal).

Meanwhile, the good old NHM has just their own godawful range plus Chinasaurs and even some Hasbro Jurassic World! ::)

Schleich is so insidious the way they do their business that sooner or later, even chinasaurs would be edged out of the market (as farfetched as that may sound).
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

CityRaptor

In Germany that is pretty much the case in most stores. Chinasaurs are pretty much limited to the small ones sold by Simba.

I didn't realize how cut-throat Schleich was. I will not spend another cent on their animals. The only way I will acquire them is if they come to me free or part of a group. Otherwise nooohohohohpe. I recently got three of them, but they came in a group whose other dinosaurs I was more interested in. No wonder I never see Safaris anywhere I go, or Papo dinosaurs. Remember when I bought that Carnegie Brachiosaurus and T.rex in this tiny town in Oregon and how ecstatic I was? They don't carry Schleich or Papo, which struck me as weird. Only Safari.
