Looks like my timing of finally buying a Wilson (a day before the re-release went up on Amazon) certainly could have been better, haha. Regardless, glad it's been re-released at regular price now for anyone who hasn't gotten one yet.

Dr.admin I saw your YouTube video about Wilson a few months back. May I ask what's it made of? The base?
Is this new version any different in materials or is it the same from what you can see?
The base is made out the same PVC as the figure.
Seems like the it is exactly the same as the previous release, just painted slightly different.

I think several folks in the forum have had issues of Wilson leaning over as the leg warps.
I still have them in their boxes now, but am thinking of getting clear plastic rods to help support the bipedals.

Which kind of rods do people get and how do you put them in?

KeU

avatar_Simon @Simon, do you have a pic of Wilson support with the clear plastic rod?

Something like this:

Just cut it to an appropriate length and wedge it between the base and the Theropod's belly as additional support.

BRONSON

Why not carefully drill up the offending limb and insert a steel rod to help support it, it would be invisible then.

Sure, why not, it is an option.
It's not like the clear plastic rod route is the only viable solution.

terrorchicken

what do you use to cut the rod ?

BRONSON

You might have to ask your parents to do it for you using a hacksaw or tin snips and then a file to get rid of any sharp bits.

Hobby knife or hacksaw.
The rod might be too filmsy for a hacksaw, a pair of bench vice will help hold it firmly.
And wet sandpaper to smooth out the cut, 100 - 300 grit.

^thanks  I only have an X-acto knife & Tamiya side cutters, guess I could try the X-acto.

Practice on a cheap dinosaur first, last thing you want is a metal rod bursting out of the knee of your best model.

oh Id probably just do the plastic rod to put under the figure's belly to prop it up. Im no decent modder/customizer, easier for me than drilling a hole in a figure's foot, lol!

You can cut the clear plastic rods with any old wire cutters or even strong craft scissors. IIRC I've even cut them with nail trimmers before because it was easier to measure out the small amount I needed.

The London Book Fair is not really a public event.  It is open to professionals from the publishing industry.  Its purpose is the sale of rights to books and other media.  So while the PNSO books and models are on display, I doubt they are actually for sale.  I noticed that they had English editions of their sea reptiles book etc but wondered if these were mock-ups - i.e. just an English language cover on a Chinese edition, intended to give rights purchasers an idea of what they could offer.  I'm not free today or yesterday otherwise I might have tried to get in!
