Tanystropheus, that's not an insult to me is it?


I collected geoworld because of the abundance of species. But I do agree that they are inferior to the likes of papo safari and rebor.   But Recur is better  in my opinion then geoworld. But that's not to say I think they ate the greatest thing ever to happen to dinosaur toys.  Yet I think people are a little to harsh with this young company.

No, not at all. I was using Geoworld as a scapegoat  . I was thinking Dinosaur Train but I would get scolded pretty bad

I am having a hard time to undestand how the 'eck some of you are always criticising brands like Rebor,with things like "oh god,those feet are oversized!" or "it looks skin wrapped, i'll pass" and now you are super interested in these horrible looking toys.....sometimes I wonder if this is the right community if you are looking for quality dinosaur replicas and figures...

It's called cognitive dissonance. People have limited funds. They make up all sorts of 'rules' and heuristics to convince themselves that they are not missing out (and justify their inconsistent purchasing decisions).

It's unfair to insult people for liking one and not the other.

I would imagine that it would be fair to engage in some forms of criticism. If a person expresses a relatively unhealthy obsession with Geoworld Jurassic Hunters Dinosaurs (not the prehistoric mammals), would it be appropriate for this hypothetical individual to be immune to all forms of critique.

In your opinion, which comment appears to be less undeserving of criticism:

(1) "Geoworld dinosaurs are the bee's knees. Lets make Geoworld great again!"

(2) "Geoworld dinosaurs have an unparalleled level of meticulous charm. Papo, REBOR and CollectA are dead to me"

(3) "Pioneering companies such as Geoworld are the reason the dinosaur toy industry exists. If we do not pay homage to Geoworld, we might risk entering a new era of darkness".

(4) "All Geoworld dinosaurs set an example for other companies. Just look at the head sculpt on the Argentinosaurus. It is far more accurate than anything Sideshow will ever put in the market. Plus its friggin 1/40 scale!"

Are these opinions by the hypothetical member of DTF acceptable? Is the hypothetical dinosaur enthusiast allowed to have a free pass?

You aren't criticizing a company, or criticizing something a member has claimed to be true. You're criticizing people for their opinions and preferences. Not comparable at all.

And rightly so, because your argument would have made absolutely zero sense given that Dinosaur Train is a completely different aesthetic aimed at a completely different audience.

great for kids but not really for me. The deinosuchus and mosasaur are interesting, and the dimetrodon would make a better gorgonopsid without the sail.

Exactly. Recur dinosaurs are suitable for kids. Some collectors like hard pvc animal figures. Maybe you could try soft animal models.

I really like the Triceratops! All the rest are pretty bad though, reminds me of Schleich mixed with collectAs early days. The sculpting on some of them have promise, but they have a lot of weird shapes. The trike looks really fun though.

i'd prefer them to be solid plastic if theyre the size of the major brand figures. soft and hollow would make them look just cheap even more i guess. some of them look really nice actually although inaccurate. the sea animals look great.

EDIT: i just found out via facebook that they are made of soft plastic outside and filled with foam-like material inside (like the huge Favorite Co. figures), and im sure they are oversized too.

Yep. Hard plastic models have a good feeling. Actually the cost of soft models are higher than hard plastic figures.

This actually isn't bad. How is it that these are in the same line?

The first one is big, the second one is small.

They look funny and colourful, and the paint job are nice in most of the cases. I really want the darker green triceratops, the iguanodon, the deinosuchus and the Ouranosaurus, but there are a few more that I like. They have their charm
