nice! I still dont have any Colorata dinos. Id like to get the Jurassic  box with the yangshuanosaurus but I keep putting it off, for other stuff I need to get.
Anyone know the best place to get Coloratas for good price?  I only know of eBay and Amazon...
That depends on the set honestly. I've seen some of them for really good prices on Amazon and eBay (by reasonable I mean the same or very slightly more than retail in Japan), and I've seen other sets be listed for hundreds of dollars.

I recommend contacting Brett (brettnj), he helped me to a Colorata set (Endangered Species: Reptiles) few months ago for a very decent price, next to some other Japanese figures.

Why is Oviraptor always reconstructed with the crest of Citipati, Oviraptor's crest was much different looking... Beautiful figures though!

IIRC Oviraptors crest actually hasn't been found. Not that that makes it any less of a trope given other relatives have highly varying crests.

I meant that Oviraptor's crest must've been much different looking. ;) Still puzzling how reconstructing Oviraptor with a Citipati crest became a thing... ???

These are very cool! (Even if the wings are a bit less than perfect, they're a huge improvement on the previous versions.) Thanks for posting, FlaffyRaptors. ¥7344 is quite expensive for a Colorata box! I paid less than that for the Deluxe Sharks box. Are these some sort of limited edition or will they be available more or less continuously like their other recent boxes?

I don't think it's a limited edition, it should be available sooner or later. If it was a limited edition it would have written "期間限定", but the box only stated that it is a new release. It does say it is a "premium" though, don't really know what that means for a Colorata box. :P

i wonder how big that T. rex is... anyway, very cool new Colorata dino box.

Silvanusaurus

Is there somewhere one can view images and details of each of the previously released Colorata boxes?

For the size of the Rex, if you have a Colorado Cretateous Volune 1, the fluffy Rex is slightly bigger that the Rex in the volume 1 box. For clearer images, we will just have to wait for Colorata to post better quality photos on their website.
Clear images of the previous Colorata boxes should be avaloable on Colorata's website. Not sure for individual photos of figures though.

The Colorata boxes and individual pics of each figure can be seen here: http://www.colorata.com/fs/colorata/c/figurebox

I especially like how they're in the colour schemes of the originals.

A Microraptor that isn't entirely black is a nice change, assuming that is that the feather colours weren't tested across the entire body.

They were tested from 20 different spots across the entire body.

The specimens now named Citipati were called Oviraptor in books, papers, and museums for about 10 years before they were finished being studied and it was determined to be a different species. People looking at older books have kept going with the original classification.

Similar to asking why Brachiosaurus is still being given the crest of Giraffatitan, actually... You just need to mentally switch the names. This is a Colorata Citipati that has an outdated label.

I can get this set (and for those who aren't aware) any other figures from Japan.

I'll post in the classified section when I have more information.

Please e-mail--don't PM--with name and shipping info if interested.

Thanks.

Sorry for not taking more pics  (and also the quality) I was in a rush. Anyways, the tail feathering of the figures are pretty neat, fanned out as they should, but all of them are missing primaries. Some of the figures paint jobs are nice, kinda fond of the micro raptor. I also like the oviraptor's exposed ostrich like thighs. But it is a bit pricey though, around 73USD. However, if the dinos had primary feathers I would've bought the set in a heartbeat! Gonna stick to David's Raptors though.
FYI, the box is a faint yellowish golden and almost twice the height of a normal colorata box.

By any chance, is it a DX box--they did that with the marine mammals and sharks. Far better sculpts and species, more to scale--but larger box and more expensivve as well.

That's definitely what it sounds like. Still pretty expensive; I didn't pay that much for the Dx shark box.

Now that I see it listed, apparently they have added a third level of box--the Premium! I just can't pay what would amount to over $100 for figures which, while beautiful, are species that I have. Now if they were prehistoric/primitive fishes or mammals or something, I would sing a different tune.

Flaffy

I agree, that;s exactly the reason why I didn't purchase the set. I'd rather save my money for David's raptors instead. Some of the figures don't even have feather detail on their bodies, if i remember  correctly.

I understand what you mean, but I CANNOT resist :))!
