I'm hoping for some help - this is my homemade Thylacoleo and I'm considering adding a camouflage pattern but cannot seem to come up with the right look. Any suggestions? If you are clever with photoshop please feel free to add a pattern and then post back here.  :)

Derek.McManus

I think it looks quite good as it is!

I always think of it with stripes, maybe something like this?

In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Actually, there are cave paintings in Australia depicting Thylacoleo that show what patterns it had :). Very thylacine-like stripes, just starting a little further forward on the body:

"The world's still the same. There's just less in it."

Jetoar

[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Thanks, that's a great article and gives me something to think about! Also to Jetoar & Derek.McManus thanks for your feedback because if I can't master the striping I will stay with the original! Halichoer, that's an interesting pattern also, I like the striping idea as it fits closely with the article from Yutyrannus.

Neglected to mention that it's a really nice sculpt. Big improvement on the Yowie version from 15 or so years ago...

Thanks very much! I hadn't seen the Yowie version before- just googled it now  :)

Your figure is amazing. You should cast it and sell them.

We have cave painting of the people that saw this animal alive, so:

http://antiquity.ac.uk/projgall/akerman319/

Its clear it has camuflage stripes.

I think you should go with that design.

Thanks for the compliment -I'm now convinced of the need for stripes and am working away on it. As for copies - there may just be something going on with that, but I can't give too much away right now  :)

Megalosaurus

If you do I'll buy it.

And please, may you show us pictures from other angles and a close up to the dentition?
And What is the scale and size of it?

Thank you.

Ok great! It's 1:15 scale and 11cm long tip of tail to nose (12cm to outstretched paw), 6.5cm tall to top of ears.

Here's a better photo of the face and teeth, but I'll hold off other photos until I get the colour scheme right if that's ok with you?

Derek.McManus

If you can extrapolate a colour scheme based on prehistoric records I think your model will look amazing! Anticipating further developments regards Derek

Thanks Veirgacht.

I've updated the paintwork now to include striping, I think this matches pretty closely with the cave paintings. Let me know what you think?

Oops I think I was too late. But I went with it anyway. My own take. I used Zebra stripes.  Anyways, I feel the green for the eyes are too bright.

Cool edit, thanks for taking the time. I like what you've done with the eyes, I think you're right about the green being too bright. Am also considering a yellowish colour similar to a lion.

Megalosaurus

Congratulations!
It turned out quite well.

Now if you plan to produce and sell this (First client here), It will be very nice to include an accesory, a little prey, or a broken bone.
