I just found a discontinued safari ltd Utahraptor on Amazon for $8 and free shipping.  :)) I call this a "lucky find"!

What's your luckiest dinosaur find?
Is there an alternate universe in which dinosaurs collect figures of people?

sauroid

i think there's already a thread about this topic.
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

it's a dead thread so this one would be a good way to revive the topic.

Pachyallosaurus

I have 2, and both are eBay unboxings. One of which had a Carnegie deinonychus, 2 protoceratops, a dimetrodon, a mosasaurus, an apatosaurus baby, and a WS 1996 allosaurus. All for only $11. The other one I got for my birthday, which had the Carnegie corythosaurus, parasaurolophus, iguanodon, a second maiasaura with nest, and a Safari DoC therizinosaurus.

What's so bad about threads that already exist.  I prefer that to new threads popping up everyday about age old topics. And proudest catch is close enough to fuse the threads.

The Netherlands are a marvelous place.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Yes, lots of Eryops and Peltobatrachus. But none of the others. I'll forever kick myself for not buying as much complete sets as I could when first I found them. I could have supplied half the members of these boards with a full set of eight...

The Battat Utahraptor was as lucky as I ever got. Never saw any original Battatsaurs in the Netherlands before, and never again.

Or how about seven Invicta Troodons for 2 euros each? By the time that news reached me, there was only one left. Obviously I bought it.

My last finds of which I am proud are the following:

Bullyland's ankylosaurus (second-hand) on ebay was a lost case and two months ago I found it.

Other figures that I feel lucky is the oviraptor hierarchy of Carnegie Safari 2005 (new) that a member of the forum got me Dinolord if I remember correctly and to which I am eternally grateful before Christmas

On the other hand ebay found the protoceratops with Carnegie Safari with label tag (new) and allosaurus Carnegie Safari of 1988 (new) a month ago.

Also by an ebay provider I found the procynosuchus of Bullyland

For now they have been my most exciting finds.

Ah well. That means there's that many out there somewhere, right?

Flaffy

9 carnegie australopithecus for $3.5 is by far the best deal I found, the shop owner clearly didn't know it's worth

Yeah, distributed all over the Netherlands by little kids who don't know what treasure they have, most likely. They could be chewed on by dogs for all we know...

Another figure I once found for 50 cts at a flea market was the Schleich Desmatosuchus, that's also not unlucky a find.

CityRaptor

People not knowing about their treasures can be good ( you get it cheap ) or bad ( they did not take good care of it ).

My luckiest find is still the Bullyland Edaphosaurus in a BIN lot of other rare Bullylands, all with their tags.

But more recently I came across a bucket load of Kaiyodos for a very fair price (would have cost me four or five times at least if all bought seperatly) - unfortunately I had to learn that German customs is a ripper though :/

In case of totally unsuspected surprises my luckiest find was the Invicta Dimorphodon within the envelope containing my last year's diorama contest prize (the very good and recommendable book "Tyrannosaurus Chronicles" by David Hone)
