I''ve not got high hopes with this. Look what they did with Breyer. From this...to that.

This is not true. Breyer horses still look the same, that pink one is just a different line. The horse above even came out this year, it's from a line called Traditional.
Dude, I very like Dinos and I cannot understand those who don't.

I still think a lot of people are pushing the panic button prematurely. Better to wait and see what happens.

I'm going to again express my excitement over how CollectA finally made an updated Styracosaurus. I really hope they do a Deluxe Allosaurus next year. I've yet to see a truly definitive version.

I also need to figure just where in blazes I'm going to display that Supreme Dimorphodon.

A truly epic Allosaurus would be very welcome.

You can always perch it in a tree or scaling a porch rail..;)

I'm thinking I may place the Dimorphodon and the Guidraco on top of the stereo speakers in my den. :)

Now comes the long wait until spring when they become available...

Not to mention they seem to know nothing about prehistory. This guy is labelled as a Triceratops on their website.

They probably based it on Cera:
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Let's hope that Collecta does not disappear as a brand of dinosaur figures and famous prehistoric animals, (certainly one of the best in the history of the toy dinosaur) because of the company Reeves and devote to comic figures such as Bullyland.

But honestly today they are sincerely very pessimistic, I do not get very good vibes the new company I bought Collecta ie Reeves. I hope I'm wrong.

Just to clarify: Breyer Horses still look the very same as they always did. The white one even came out this year. The pink one is the older one ;D

Prehistoric Sea Life Minis

Does anybody else here have the suspicion that these minis are giving us a sneak peak at full sized models for 2018? Seeing that the Pliosaurus and Temnodontosaurus look pretty similar to their full-size counterparts, I can't help but get my hopes up that we might be looking forward to a Leedsichthys or Archelon this time next year. Maybe even one of those Giant Orthocones! A man can dream...

Well, they had an Apatosaurus and Giganotosaurus in the dino toobs, but we aren't getting full size figures of those next year, so sadly I wouldn't expect any full sized figures of those in 2018.
I am the Dinosaur King!

suspsy

It certainly would be nice to get a larger scale Archelon or Dunkleosteus. Perhaps we'll be pleasantly surprised in 2018, but that's a long way off.

As long as I get a detailed model of diplomoceras, I'll be a happy little dinosaur :))

The difference being those weren't new sculpts, but rather new labels on shrunken versions of other species.

I can't think of any CollectA figure the Apatosaurus is a shrunken version of.

I checked the CollectA catalogue when I was working on the review for Tube B, but none of the larger sauropod toys match the Apatosaurus.

I'd thought it was the Alamosaurus, the sculpt is very similar even if the pose is different.

Shonisaurus

As for the archelon, dunkleosteus, xiphactinus, and other species of prehistoric animals from Collecta's fabulous tube, I fear it will remain in that in small toy collecting figures.

I have no illusions if they did not make apatosaurus and giganotosaurus as we expected, I do not think they make species as dark as these next year, honestly.

Sorry if I'm a killjoy.

I think any similarity between the CollectA Alamosaurus and mini Apatosaurus is due to them both being sauropods done in a similar style.  Nothing between the two seems to match: the heads are different, the spines on the back are different, the Alamosaurus's scales look proportionately bigger, the Apatosaurus has rounded osteorderms on its back, the hands and feet look different (and the Apato seems to have accurate u-shaped hands while the Alamo seems to have inaccurate o-shaped hands), the skin creases are different, the pose is completely different.

To me it looks like the CollectA mini Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus and Triceratops are all new sculpts.
