I don't mind companies taking inspiration from actual fossils.

Quite a number of dinosaur toys are based directly on skeletal mounts. There's nothing wrong about it at all.

But I didn't say there's any wrong. I was looking for Styracosaurus on Wikipedia and the skeletal mount reminded me immediately of the Collecta figure, especially in that picture from Facebook. I was actually underlining it as something in favour of Collecta.

Any ideas on when the first models will be available?

Shonisaurus

I have no idea I guess in the online stores soon but will be available approximately (it's a guess) after the winter is in March or April the first news.

And the second round seems to me to go long for mid or late summer. For now we will have to conform to the promotional photos. It is the bad thing that Collecta has and fortunately does not happen to the Safari company being Collecta also a magnificent company.

suspsy

February is when most of them will be available. I believe the Dimorphodon, the Basilosaurus, the Uintatherium, and the aquatic tube are scheduled for later in the summer.

I wonder if the marine toob creatures will come with those little stands...

The first photograph can not be appreciated because it is too dark a lot, that does look very good the dimorphodon deluxe Collecta, and the styracosaurus deluxe looks huge.

In the second photograph we can see the uinthaterium which is very well modeled although its size is too small at first glance, at least from the point of view of the catalog, the delinocheirus deluxe, gigantspinosaurus and einiosaurus are also visible.

Regarding the prehistoric sea miniatures they look magnificent and are even better than the promotional photographs, the pliosaurus and temnodontosaurus are perfect and the same I can say of the other tube figures of prehistoric creatures. Collecta is one of the big dinosaur companies along with Safari whose figures are doubly aimed at both collectors and children. Without a doubt its prehistoric mammals are the best of the market although they are not made to scale.

The Kronosaurus looks better and better with each new photo. I can't wait to own this baby. The Dimorphodon and Uintatherium look fantastic as well. This is easily one of CollectA's best assortments ever.

And no, I'm pretty sure the aquatic tube won't come with little stands.

Sadly yes.  Wouldn't it be good if they sold them as an extra!  Finding the perfect stand can be rather testing and hit/miss.

Blade-of-the-Moon

It almost appears as if the Dimorphodon has taxidermy eyes?

Halichoeres

These do look pretty damn good. Assuming the marine critters don't come with stands, where can one buy stands like that? I'm not sure what to ask Amazon.

Probably gloss, I've managed to achieve a similar effect, especially in low light conditions.

Agree, the original pictures made it look weird but thanks to these photos one can see how good he actually is. As beautiful and striking the Safari Kronosaurus is I think I´m going with this one.

Certainly the kronosaurus Collecta competes with Safari on an equal basis. Besides its colors are very conservative. In February we can have all the new features of Collecta except those already mentioned that will be available in summer is a shame this policy Collecta that delay these figures for marketing for so long.

Anyway the dimorphodon Collecta I think it is much better than its homologue guidraco

BlueKrono

I think the CollectA Krono blows the Safari one out of the Mesozoic water. The paint scheme is much more like a real animal rather than a digital art painting. Also, have you see any pics looking down the Safari Krono's throat? It looks like it could swallow a Basilosaurus. This one seems to have more realistic anatomy. Perhaps not as good for kid's playing (chomping and swallowing other toys), but more appealing to an adult collector.

Does anyone else think that the scale seems wrong for the displayed mini-figures toob. Maybe it is the angle of the photo but I think the items shown are more like a standard sized figure (too be used as display items) versus customer product.

Although in this new photo of it, it can be seen the CollectA Kronosaurus has five premaxillary teeth.  Kronosaurus queenslandicus actually has four premaxillary teeth and then has a gap in the tooth row before the maxillary teeth begin - the Wild Safari Kronosaurus gets all this right.

Fair point. :)

Might seem an odd suggestion but many rock and lapidary supply stores carry numerous small stands, brackets, display cubes, and what not for displaying even the smallest or largest specimens. I never have a problem finding what I want there....just a suggestion

Based on photos alone, I have to agree with BlueKrono's comment.  As pretty as the Safari Krono is, the paint job doesn't look realistic enough to me, and the mouth ... well, its just open too wide and the jaws appears to be too .. gracile .. for want of better terminology ... it may be a more polished scultpt (again, I'm handicapped by the fact I do not have either one of these to see them 'in person') but the Collecta one would look more "real" in a diorama setting than the Safari ...
