I grew up with the toho films. Didn't care for 2014 but saw Shin Godzilla.

Shin was awful, but I loved how op that photon beam was.

I have a very hard opinion on American takes on Godzilla and I must say this is the first one that's actually got me hooked. The first two attempts were meh and so I didn't expect much from the sequel to 2014 but my god I am definitely watching this one when it comes out.

King Ghidorah has never looked so monstrous and actually formidable

Here is a larger photo of King Ghidora.

Brocc21 acticulated my sentiments better than I could.

On the other hand - I was so excited when dragon53 shared the Ghidorah photo but now there's a little voice in my head saying: "oh look, it's a recycled WETA Smaug".  ;D Kidding.  That photo just reminds me too much of that poster for "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies".

Screenrant posted possible new powers for King Ghidora:

"At the 1:17 mark in the latest Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer, viewers can briefly see (and hear) the spikes in Ghidorah's tail open up, thus meaning that the spikes can be retracted. It's not something that's been explicitly shown in Toho's old movies, which means it could very well be a brand new ability or power in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, depending entirely on what Ghidorah can do with its tail. If Ghidorah can simply retract the spikes on command, then it's an ability, but if Ghidorah can do something unique with the spikes, then that's something else entirely.

In addition to figuring out what Ghidorah can do with its tail, it remains to be seen if both tails have retractable spikes or just one of them. After all, each of Ghidorah's three heads has a different personality (and they're all being portrayed by different actors in the film). So, that also begs the question, which of Ghidorah's heads controls the spikes? Lots of questions have arisen since WB started marketing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and there will certainly be more as the movie's release date gets closer."

For those excited for King of the Monsters, "Godzilla: Planet Eater" is currently available on Netflix. Aside from the usual emo-fest, it has a very different (emphasis on different) take on Ghidorah.

I bet those spikes rattle like a snake to create a fourth "head" to trick enemies

All this is great and all; but, ''where's Minya"?

Sucks that toho will be taking rights back after king vs godzilla

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS---director Michael Dougherty said if he returns for the next sequel, he wants Biollante and Gigan to be part of the monster cast. Dougherty said he also is a fan of Anguirus and MechaGodzilla.

I believe what that really means is "renegotiate" .  Now that they have a HUGE Godzilla popularity boost in the U.S. Toho can now demand more money and know the studio will likely pay for their star.

Dougherty usually knows what's he's doing ( though he NEEDS to get Trick r Treat 2 out already.. ) , I'd love to see Anguirus in a film again, he's my fav monster and has a better than normal U.S. fanbase.

To be completely honest, I think it was just for dramatic effect. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the left and right heads control the left and right tails respectively. Dougherty has said that the center head is the leader and the other two are kind of like his "lackeys" (I don't recall the exact interview, but I know that's the precise language that he used). Because of this, having them control the tails would give them a little bit more power in battle if they are, in fact, the "lackeys".

New Screenrant.com comments on the latest trailer:

"However, the trailer also appeared to have teased two new Titans for the MonsterVerse. While it's unknown who those two new Titans are, specifically, it's been theorized that the crab-legged monster is Kumonga while the monster under the mountain is Anguirus."

It almost certainly isn't, given that the big 4 are the only Toho monsters Legendary has the rights to at the moment and that the director specifically stated that they will be making new kaiju for the movie.

I was surprised to learn that Jakks Pacific is making the toys now, I thought it was Bandai of America. The Toyark, where I got these pictures, has some more images and descriptions; but, be warned, there is a "spoiler".

12" Godzilla:

Repack of the original 24" Godzilla:

6" monsters:

3.75" Battle Packs:

The spoiler has done a lot of damage already in the Godzilla community, even if it is something that people were expecting, fans seem to be devastated with it´s confirmation. And apparently there is also another possible spoiler alongside the spoiler which fortunately I have yet to know, and I hope it stays that way.
Spoiler
Apparently there is something that comes along with the fact that Godzilla it´s going to enter into its "burning" form, and it´s not the possibility of Godzilla dying, cause that obviously it is not going to happen. If you know what that could possibly be, please keep it to yourself.

Speaking of the figures, they are alright,. The 12" Godzilla looks cool, the 24" not that much. The 6" Rodan look good but Ghidorah is basically unpainted, which makes it look cheap, if at least had a dark paint wash like Rodan... The 3.75 battle packs are alright if they are as small as a think. The mask is very poor done, specially when compared to mask from other movie toy lines like Jurassic World or Transformers.

Since the SH Monsterarts figures were revealed a need for some short of figure representation of the 4 kaijus appeared in my mind. And I´m not even a passionate Godzilla fan, I´m just a casual fan who though the 1998 was how Godzilla was until he saw the 2014 version and then discovered the Godzilla universe of the Toho films (Which I still have to watch, even the original 1954 movie. Shame on me ::)) The movie isn´t out yet and I already want to love the 4 kaijus even though I still have not seen them in action.

I think it´s better for me to wait until I see the movie and then, if I like it, go for some figures. The SH Monsterarts are out of the question due to their price, so that leaves NECA, Bandai and these figures to choose from.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Jakks always goes cheap.. the last Godzilla toys by them I ignored, same this time. I'll wait for Neca to give us some nice detailed large pieces.

Can someone PM me why the "spoiler" is a spoiler?  As a super casual fan, I don't get it but I'm really curious.

*edit*  A big Thanks to all members who PM'ed.

Syndicate Bias

I wanna see Gigan. I kinda wish they would find a way to throw in SpaceGodzilla since he's iconic too

ITdactyl

I sincerely hope "King of the Monsters" won't be as depressing as "Planet Eater".  'A bit ironic, for a film whose supposed message is about hope.
