It appears we will return to Nublar (JP1 island)

Yay, they didn't kill all the dinosaurs like in the novel! That honostly is why i like the movie better.

Blade-of-the-Moon

well they did something with them if you watch the board meeting scene from the theatrical version of TLW..though they did cut it later.

We really don't need dinosaurs there either if the whole objective is retrieving that darn can butterfingers dropped...;)  Unless it takes place right after the helicopter of survivors leaves.

I know the director posted that..but it's hard to tell what he meant. Maybe they are just using Kauai again for the location ?  I certainly wouldn't mind returning to Nublar as it's part of my own idea for a sequel.

At the end of Jp the game, there were plans on blowing up the island, but one of the main charectors was an animal rights activist and tryied to hold the main Charectors hostage befor she got eaten by a mosasaurus.   they get off the island alive, but rather or not the plan to blow it up is still in affect is unknown

As a huge fan of the Jurassic Park series, I'd like to consider that atrocity as not-canon.

Didn't a lot fans like that Game?

Anyways,  JP IV is on hold again:

Instead The Lost World and JP III in 3D...
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Brontozaurus

I liked how the game expanded on the film without making major contradictions to the canon. It was kind of blah otherwise.

Also why do we need TLW and JPIII in 3D? Neither of them are as significant as the original, although I suppose this is the kind of thinking that led to the 3D re-release of The Phantom Menace.

and to think i trusted it would be out ::)

Blade-of-the-Moon

It's not exactly a bad thing according to a trusted source :

http://www.jurassicpark4-movie.com/news/784

Looks like the studio wants to push the film even further and make it more " epic " than before. Some staff couldn't meet that and were let go and now they have to be replaced.

I still think it could be good OR bad news on the quality of the film. Making a story "bigger" doesn't always mean better. Especially since the director they chose has only directed ONE film before, and it was a small character-driven work. I'm worried if he honestly will end up staying on board if they make things TOO big. I was hoping for a more character-oriented Jurassic Park with more plot than action this time, to be honest, after the action-fest we had with Jurassic Park 3. So... while this is better news than it "being canned"... I can't honestly say I feel this is GOOD news.

It's one of those things now that we just have to wait and see til we hear more. :( Which is a bit aggravating at this point when I finally had my heart set on this project, finally letting my guard down that it was really happening and things were going well.

You know the guys on that site are seriously invested in this film- they have a countdown of the days remaining until JP4 comes out ;D

Maybe we should see this as a good thing?  It's being delayed because the film makers want to make it really good and not rush it out.
A similiar thing happens with video games- Nintendo often delays their games because they want more time to perfect their work, and it shows. Rushed stuff usually sucks.

Development hell can either be good or bad for a movie or game.   Duke Nukem Forever (an Video Game) was scheduled for 1993 but it took over 18 years before it was released, and it Sucked when it finally came out

That's why I don't mind the long wait until Pikmin 3 - as long as they work their hardest to make the game great!

As for Jurassic Park: The Game, I thought it was pretty terrible. The gameplay was dull, but the story wasn't even that good either. None of the characters were likeable, and the dinosaurs weren't even that well done. I rank it up there as one of the top three worst video games I've ever played.

This new article has set a bit of ease, and includes an official statement from Universal.

http://variety.com/2013/film/news/universal-delays-jurassic-park-4-release-1200477065/

The statement:

Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal's beloved franchise.  We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history.

The article however also mentions some cast they did (still do?) have in store, but it also states that the director's own screenwriter from his previous film Safety Not Guaranteed has been doing script revisions!

Sorry to double post, but ALSO...

Trev has been living in Hawaii for some time working on the script with his screenwriter. They were to fully start production in June, although that isn't happening now, obviously.

So just playing what if...but suppose the forces of featherdom prevailed and they chose to slow the movies release to included feathered dinosaurs. Then would people be as annoyed or feel slighted, or perhaps be glad for the revisions?

Brontozaurus

Personally I'm hoping the delay is because it's being revised into JURASSIC PARK IV: IN SPACE.
