I think I'll pour myself a glass of scotch, sit in my study with my collection, put on some music, and read a good book. :)

I imagine we'll all be napping for the centennial. Or occupying rad new robot bodies.

The latter. Please, the latter!  O:-)

I also wonder what will become of all our collections. I'll probably donate mine to a museum. It would be cool to set up a Dinosaur Toy Museum as a legacy.

This is something I think about a lot. Normally one of two things happens: a collection is bought or given to another single collector or is disbursed out into the general populace again, usually by family members or an estate. When a famous Marx collector died last year another Marx collector bought his collection from his widow for a small sum but is now selling it off piecemeal, as the Marx museum went out of business last spring. When Bob Fisher, famous for having the second-largest Star Wars collection in the world, died his family wasn't interested in maintaining it, so they sold it off on eBay. I bought his mint-in-box Garindan, which now adorns my bookshelf. I named it Bob.

I've thought about making a small museum for my collections someday. With approximately 298 long-necked (including long-necked Marx kronosaurs and related knockoffs) and 97 short-necked swimming prehistorics, I wonder if it's something that anyone would be interested in seeing. I think it would have to be entirely self funded; the Marx museum didn't even make enough to keep the lights on.

The disposition of my collections has crossed my mind, but I haven't thought about it too much. Unlike you two, I don't have the sort of collection that would be a good basis for a museum. I think it would probably just go on Craigslist or maybe to my nephew.

Those robot bodies really can't come soon enough! xD

As for the idea of a museum, I at one point considered attempting a small "garage museum and aquarium" type setup, but I've generally shied away from the idea of setting up particularly large aquariums.

As for what will happen to my collection after my death? Well, I'll make sure that who ever inherits it will know that it does not consist of some cheap no name dinosaurs AND looks what is wirtten under the belly. Seriously, it really annoys me when people on ebay call Safari etc. No Name products and get the genus wrong, despite it being written under the figure's belly.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Wouldn't most frequent poster be the person who posts the most per day?

Anyways, happy birthday DTF, from probably the most recent member who'll ever post about this topic.

And that's definitely not me.... ;D

I might be remembering things wrong, but I do miss the old picture heavy threads (figures, artwork etc.)... though I'm not complaining.  I like the current lively (for lack of a better term) discussions.

I'm really glad I found this community.  Here's to more saurians of the plastic, resin or meaty varieties.  Cheers!

In the history of DTFv2 There are 126 members who have posed more than times than ITdactyl. So, that makes ITdactyl the 127th...what's the word for that? On the forum main page there is a list of "top posters", but "127th top poster" doesn't sound quite right?
