QuoteWhy is everybody speculating if the head is articulated?
It has clear visible seams, it's obvious that the head is able to be put in a more neutral position.

The skull can rotate but it looks like the jaw is fixed : /

Shonisaurus

It will be the nth tyrannosaurus rex I buy.   :) The last was the PNSO to everythingdinosaur (which I bought this Friday) and which will be on its way next week.

But sticking to the company I'm interested in this tyrannosaurus rex from Kaiyodo, whether it's vinyl or not. It is very well done although I get the impression that this figure is intended for a very young audience more than a collector, but honestly that does not matter to me, for me it is a good figure and I already know where to order it.  8)

Multiple photos have been shown, yet every single one of them has the head facing down.

Yes, its pretty clear that the head is permanently affixed in the looking down position (maybe looking at a youngster, or getting ready to take another chomp of dinner).  The lower jaw opens, obviously.

But it wouldn't be too complicated to straighten the head out (if you are a kit bashing hobby modeler, that is)...  ;)

I have 1:40 T-Rex's in a variety of poses, this one will be unique

spinosaurus1

i actually really like the pose of figure. it looks as if it's looking down at it's clutch of eggs/ youngster, or looking over a recent kill before gorging itself. i really like this figure. the detail looks immaculate the the paint scheme is fitting. already went ahead and preordered it

With the forward facing eyes (and let's face it, ludicrously heavy skull even for an animal that size) is the pose really that unnatural or even specific to an action? Certainly looks to me it would still be able to see forwards fine, if not potentially better, with the head held like this.

i would definitely  say it would most likely be specific. as large as tyrannosaurus head is, their heavily pneumatic and accounts for a mere fraction of the total body weight. that plus the well developed musculature of the neck region is perfectly suited for wielding the head with relative ease and with no more trouble then that of any other animal.

with that being said. i completely agree that the pose is perfectly naturalistic. the pose it is definitely suggestive of it noticing something below it. with it's jaws closed, it looks as if it notices some small quarry scuttling through the brush, too small and insignificant for it to waste time on. there's such a clam demeanor in the tyrannosaurus face. i really dig it :)

with jaws open, it looks poised to delivering a fatal blow to a prey item it has knocked down, or about to gorge on a corpse it has either found or killed previously and saved for later.

I really like how bulky this figure is and the color scheme that it has. But I would like to know it can have it´s head somewhat straight or if it is going to be constantly looking down.

from the looks of it, i think the only articulation out of the neck your gonna get would be a swivel joint. besides that it doesn't look like your gonna be able to straighten the neck.

Oooh the temptation is real...

At least this new T-rex got you all stop fussing about the "vitae giganotosaurus" all the time ...  ;)

Carnosaur

With the head tucked down it would match well with the CollectA Triceratops carcass.
A better image of feeding than any other rex toy currently offers.

Meh , I really cant complain at $35, I'm going to go ahead and order one..or two :)

Can I suggest either moving this thread to the New for 2018 section or merging it with the existing Kaiyodo 2018 thread (http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=6263.0)? It will make it easier when it's time for the 2018 top 10 poll, for which I'm sure this figure will be nominated.

Good idea! Topics merged  C:-)

Despite my meh-ness on most tyrannosauroids, that model is absolutely gorgeous and I might have to get it down the road. I wonder how it'd look next to the vitae giga.
What I love about Allosaurus is that it lived an extremely violent life that was rife with broken bones, cuts, scrapes, infections, sprains, and yet it just kept on truckin.

Shonisaurus

Tyrannosaurus kaiyodo is great despite being articulate.  8)  I think it will be smaller than the giganotosaurus Vitae.

Kaiyodo does not usually make dinosaur figures and prehistoric animals precisely large. Very scientific figures but yes, very small but at the same time very practical for those collectors who do not have space in their homes.  :)

Bokisaurus

Although not a big fan of the articulation, I like this rex a lot. The color is amazing, the best for me, very much like the tiny Kaiyodo figures.
Hoping it won't be too expensive and hard to get.

Katieraptor

Yeah I wont lie the small size is a huge draw.
