I loved this book as a kid. I still have mine too.  I did get my niece the new version for her birthday.  And she loves it.

It's always fun seeing the difference between old and new dinosaur books. The out dated facts are kind of funny but I think the art is the biggest improvement.

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

I'm really digging that National Geographic T-rex's color scheme.

Man, that art is pretty great. Kids these days have it so good.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Looks good, but I can't help but notice the Tyrannosaurus is ye olde Crash McCreery design with two or three cosmetic changes. (I think they might have reduced the jugal too much!) For an effort in updating old, outmoded tropes, it comes across as a little ironic.

Nice comparison, in each of the books the drawings are really nice!
