Honestly I love seeing Mattel's sculpts repainted, thanks to them being so detailed (and nearly film accurate in some cases). It would be interesting to see someone do that for the Protoceratops, and Minmi, and I would even be interested in seeing the Proceratosaurus repainted like the WWD Ornitholestes. Heck I wouldn't mind trying it out on the Minmi (I'd love it in a color scheme like Safari Ltd's Sauropelta), but I don't think I'll have the means to do something like that for a ways off (I can either focus on collecting figures or buying materials if I wanted to repaint right now).

Just picked up the double pack set of Stiggy the Stygimoloch with the dark-gray clothed mercenary.

At first I thought this version of Stiggy was just a repack of the basic Attack Pack figure, but was surprised to see that it actually has a head-butting function, which operates the same way as the chomping action on the green Legacy baby T. rex, by pushing the tail down.

I don't know if that was clear to everyone, and correct me if I'm wrong but of the four or so that are being produced, isn't this the only version of Stiggy that has such a feature? In my opinion that makes this version the one to have. It's slightly cooler than the dino-damage Stiggy if you ask me.

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Mattel QC video. If you have experienced any quality control problems with your Mattel Jurassic World product, and would like to have those issues featured in a video that Mattel WILL see, please share photos here and tag me in them. You can also DM them to me here or on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).  For issues such as loose limbs or non-functioning action features, a video is most helpful.  Please email to [email protected].  (Please note that minor paint defects will not be emphasized besides missing eyes or misprinted eyes since this is in fact a mass produced toy line.)  Additionally, please include a brief description of the problem.  I will do my best to feature everything that I receive in the video.

Thanks!

avatar_Victoria's Cantina @Victoria B Cretaceous Cantina!!! Good to hear you have a direct link to Mattel somewhere in this convoluted mix of producers/consumers.
Looking forward to seeing the video and all the common issues finally collected and brought to light. Despite that, Mattel has been doing quite the great job so far.

As we don't look like seeing any more Mattels on the shelves down here in Australia I have been looking online for some that I'd still like. The Mosasaur is a write-off as far as I can tell but I thought that I might be able to pick up one of those little Sauropods, even though I prefer the figures a tad larger than these, and remember the description as little here, as in small! To further fuel my amazement at shipping rates check out the asking price to send these over - and the description as 'Matchbox' is interesting. But that shipping is astounding!!

avatar_PhilSauria @PhilSauria Do no stores there sell the Indoraptor 3 pack that also has the Apatosaurus and Dilophosaurus mini?

Not that I've seen locally and I am only prepared to travel so far in search of these guys. The Mattel experience was just a bit of an interesting detour from the usual brands and types of figures that I collect anyway, but I ended up with six figures from them. Far as I can tell we had maybe two thirds of the first wave and nothing from any subsequent releases.

Mattel should really work on distribution...
Nothing from Wave 2 over here, and we're still missing Wave 1 stuff like the Legacy humans and Mosasaurus.

I found the pack with the first Apatosaurus in Big W, and K-Mart has recently got the minis in.

Hmm, sounds like I'd better start wearing out shoe leather again, thanks for the tip. I gave up looking a couple of weeks back after regular checks revealed the same old regulars, in fact one store had wound down its display so I thought that Mattel merch was on the way out as far as some retailers were concerned.

random_dinofan

I'm so hyped for these toys!! They look miles better than what Hasbro crapped out.

Hey now...that would require some effort, not what they actually did which was accidentally kick a few random pieces of plastic together and call it a dinosaur.

Jetoar

[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

avatar_Jetoar @Jetoar, big fan of yous channel, keep up the good work!

By the way, we have the first review of the Sinoce...Pachyrhi...the new ceratopsian from the roarivores subline.

Good to know that people ACTUALLY KNOW what this dinosaur truly is.

Flaffy

WELL then... my respect for Mattel just went down a little.
Never mind, easy pass for me, gonna save up for BoTM's Ceratopsians instead.

Appalachiosaurus

Strange how Mattel can't just, you know, give it the right name. I get that the name changed after the model was made, but why not just make a seperate Sinoceratops model to be released later? Did mattel absolutely need something named Sinoceratops to be released ASAP, even if they mislabel it?

Loon

No doubt the name is a corporate decision, Mattels design team did another outstanding job here though so I bought it.
And you can too!

No doubt it was because of Universal's marketing decision. It's rather unfortunate that they clearly changed the genus midway through the movie, when the toy was more then likely already into production but nonetheless this is still a well made Pachyrhinosaurus. I've mentioned this like a dozen times though. It is what it is. At least we know what creature the sculpt is based on, and all we can do is pass that information around. It probably won't be as good as either of David Silva's (his JP one, or his new BotM one), but that's okay considering that it's a $15 Jurassic World toy. It will hold me over while I wait for his BotM anyways (same with the Protoceratops, and 2019 Styracosaurus). While we can all hope for a proper Sinoceratops down the line (JW3's possible toyline maybe, even if it's years from now), at least we have something for now that has something close to the color scheme of the one in the film. And honestly I'd take the covered fenestra on this figure over the creature's exposed ones in the film anyways.

Edit: How odd. It has five toes on the feet, but the Triceratops has four. Ah well. It is a Jurassic toy. Still lots of nice sculpt detail and this roarivore has one of the nicest paint schemes, next to the Ceratosaurus.

1: Will there be an actual Sinoceratops figure made? Since the current one is a Pachyrhinosaurus painted and labelled as a Sinoceratops.

2: Can knee(ankles if possible, and no metatarsal articulation that the large theropod figures currently have, as that is not a joint and looks wrong.) articulation be done on the larger figures(Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Carnotaurus etc.) as that would allow the stance to be changed whereas currently only the posture can be changed.(This one isn't necessary, but would be nice.)

3: Better paint application.(more movie accurate, paint continuing all the way down the tail and on all of the underbelly not just the belly, black pupils instead of just a painted iris, and actually painted claws instead of just a clear gloss.)

And some species suggestions: Mamenchisaurus(can't forget the largest dinosaur in the franchise.) Corythosaurus, Segisaurus, Apatosaurus, Euoplocephalus, Microceratus, Deinonychus, Lesothosaurus, Tylosaurus(based off of Jurassic Park The Game) and other species from the JP universe.(video games, books, comics, etc.)
