Got these two vintage dinos from the USA :

Alva T-rex from the AMNH :

And now my Alva Dinosaur set is complete :
Joining my 4 herbivores and the Big Brontosaurus -

And a shot of the shelf :

The 2nd :
Plesiousaur from Aus-Ben Studios  :

The most colorful of the 1986 set of six -

It's nice to receive now and then something other than 'Made in China' on the back ...

My latest addition to my Aus-Ben Dinosaur collection, Along with the T-rex and 2 herbivores -

And a shot of my Ceramic / Porcelain Dinosaur shelf :

Crackington

Libraraptor

The new look of my colored statues place :

Replaced the location after receiving my latest - the Colorata whale shark -

BrontoScorpio

Rarely, I see some thing I just need to have a 2nd one - Although I got it years ago -

Dinostoreus 1/35 Allosaurus Polystone desktop model by Shane Foulkes.
Probably the rarest of all small Scale Dinostoreus Finished desktop model Dinosaurs.

Congrats, avatar_BrontoScorpio @BrontoScorpio , that really is a classic. That might just be my all-time favorite Allosaurus sculpt.

My latest box - This time from the USA :

A Resin kit - Still untouched :

The cover obviously relates to the famous GWANGI movie -

But I tried in vain searching in the fine prints for any clues regarding the Kit itself - and its origin.
Everything is about the Movie - That is very strange

This may suggest a loose connection between the artist who made this Kit - and the actual Distributor

Torvosaurus

I'd like to find that Gwangi model. Do you have an idea when it was produced?

BrontoScorpio

I have not yet finished introducing the model, pace yourself - don't be hasty.
Just saying in advance - This particular model is probably out of reach - being too rare.
But, there are many other fine GWANGIs out there -
Most notably are the ones by Joe Laudati -

BrontoScorpio

Took it all out of the box -

The display plate seems a bit small for the model - I am not 100% sure it belongs ...

I have never seen so much excess material Accompanied to each part - as in this kit -
This really is an old creation - what makes it one of my most challenging kits -

I think this even calls for acquiring a special steel saw - As it is futile trying to sand down all that excess Resin.
The old casting process had left the left arm shoulder socket full of material - how the hell will I get rid of that ? ...

I forgot and missed introducing one last part - The upper row of teeth -

I am not sure if the flat plate connecting the teeth is considered as belongs to the part - or should it be removed.
It seems there is not enough space in the mouth to include also that plate  -
Especially since there is so much 'hard to remove' excess Resin down in the rear part of the mouth

Torvosaurus

I'm guessing that "plate" between the teeth is flash, from looking at the inside of the mouth and the teeth as they are right now. It looks like the upper jaw is molded to accept the teeth without the plate attached. Based on what I can see, I'd remove the plate.

That kit sure has a lot of excess resin attached. That resin on the tail is horrendous!

So, I  removed the plate connecting the teeth - and in the process broke it to 4 pieces ...
( Note to self : 1st mistake )
Also cut a deep gape down the rear part of the mouth - leaving the tongue intact :

Also used a tool with a high destruction capability to saw off a large amount of all that excess Resin -

And then sanded away and straightened the two main surface areas -
( Note to self : 2nd mistake )

You can see the right side arm sockets are pretty much untouched -

But I had the left arm socket drilled and cleaned by a tool at a garage workshop -
( Note to self : 3rd mistake )

And the complete activity outcome - after all cutting and sanding -

I cut some more of the upper joint of the left hand - as it did not fit inside the cleaned socket -
( Note to self : 4th mistake )

BrontoScorpio

And now - assembled at last :

Both sides show it wasn't easy at all ...

There is a miss-fit between the base of the tail and the main torso body part -

Had the tail part surface been too small - I could have move it further from the body - to form some distant covering over the measurements gap -
But, the problem is actually the opposite - The tail part is too big ...
in spite of all that - I used some material in between anyway - but that said - I should not have sanded the attachment surface ( 2nd mistake ) :

I actually should have sand away the lower part of the tail - after attachment - but I couldn't bring myself to do it -

And there it stands - in a more formidable pose :
after drilling out all excess Resin from inside the left hand socket ( 3rd mistake ) and found out the arm won't fit in this socket anyway ( 4th mistake ) -
I had to fill inside a lot of epoxy glue - to cover for the lost material.

The teeth, it turns out, were meant to stay together along their connecting flat plate ( 1st mistake )  :

Protopatch

Nice. Have you planned to paint it ?

BrontoScorpio

And for the solution - the final piece in solving the mystery of this kit :

Kaiyodo ( 海洋堂 ) Dinosaur collection ( DINOLAND 1st wave ) 1/20 Allosaurus ( アロサウルス )
Resin Garage Kit ( レジン ガレージキット )  Master prototype for the Soft Vinyl Kit, by Shinichi Yamashita ( 山下伸一 )

It seems the unique box was made as a limited special edition ordered from the Artist to be distributed in the US -
since before it was issued in a mass production soft Vinyl version :

The models are an exact match :

Only difference is that the Resin version will not stand on its own two hind legs - as the Soft Vinyl does -
due to the weight of the Resin filled tail :

Another difference is that with the Soft Vinyl you can weld the tail and fuse it to the body -
what was surely done in this case - where as a Resin must be cut or sand away ...

Last difference is the Teeth subject - in this case - as in other cases of Soft Vinyl vs. Resin prototype Masters -
The upper set of teeth in the soft Vinyl kits comes connected to a flat plate that should be glued as whole to the upper jaw -
In Resin kits - go figure it out ...

Next to the Shinobu Matsumura 1/20 DINOLAND Allosaurus -

The rare Resin version can be seen here, at the center -
taken from the 'Dinosaur Science Frontline' (  恐竜学最前線 )  Magazine August 1994 issue -
"The main exhibition of the newly renovated ( i.e. at that time ... ) Kaiyodo Tokyo Store (Shibuya, Tokyo) (東京・渋谷)

And the Soft Vinyl ver. -
from the SEP-2024 Kaiyodo and Dinosaur Figures Exhibition 「海洋堂と恐竜フィギュア展」 : at the Garage Kits section -

Just a side note :
The model is erroneously associated here or attributed in the explanation sign to the artist Eito Hara ( 原詠人 )
when we already determined, according to the various Catalogs, the artist to be Shinichi Yamashita ( 山下伸一 )

And no - I would not paint this one too -
As it is a rare Resin Prototype.

BrontoScorpio

Last, but not least - the task of finding a spare space on one of my already packed shelves -
for this quite large new model ...

I think I spotted something just right over here - on that non-Japanese shelf of all places ...

Yes, just over there, it fits - at the right-most corner on the back - would you believe it ...

And the modified shelf -
I really am getting the hang of it -  I think I have developed some kind of expertise

BrontoScorpio

Got this new pair of Invicta Lambeosaurus & Dimetrodon for a total sum of 29$ -

That is a nice bargain - wouldn't you say so ...

This is an improvement from the last time I took them out ...
And No, that's not a mirror image ...

You can never have too many tiny Dimetrodons ...

As they fit to the whole scene ...
