Just after I received the  first Two Resin kits  by Shinichi Yamashita,
by a lucky chance, I stumbled across this intricate 18 parts Resin kit.

Took me some time to acknowledge it is in fact another Shinichi Yamashita kit :

Really was a painstaking task -  handling all those small parts : fingers, ears and claws - but eventually it is all ready -

Truely a legendary kit of a legendary character -

Kaiyodo - Werewolf (Wolfman / Werewolf / Howling Werewolf) - Resin garage kit - by Shinichi Yamashita - from 1984-1986
海洋堂 - 狼男 (ウルフマン / ウェアウルフ / ハウリング 狼男 ) - レジン ガレージキット - 原型製作  山下伸一  1980年代

Yet again a characteristic great work of Shinichi Yamashita

And scary too ...

My kit was discovered loose - But the complete product has the Kaiyodo typical box and leaflet -

Taken from two Kaiyodo Catalogs - from a page just after the Dinosaurs section -

From the 86' Catalog - The IMAGINATIONS creatures section -

This warewolf stands very long and tall - it immediately reminded me one of my all time favorite characters -
The unforgetable professor Lupin of Harry potter - maybe they got inspired from this statue ? ...

Next to my other nightmarish creature -
The  Post hobby 'Night stalker' from the 'Scratch model collection' -

One final shot of all my Shinichi Yamashita's Resins :

Next in this group of seven kits -

Kaiyodo 1/20 Deinonychus (  ディノニクス )  by Araki Kazunari ( 荒木一成 ) from 1984

There seems to be too many legs here :

Well, the leaflet is stating two sets of legs  - with 3 options :
1. striding
2. running
3. jumping

I chose the 1st option - I always prefer two legs on the ground :

These legs are so thin anyway ...

The other set left as spare ...

Toogether with the 1/10 Deinonychus -

standing on its own - with just one leg - since before the glue ...

Striding & Running versions - in Kaiyodo Catalogs -

Running & Jumping versions - from the 1986 ARTPLA magazine :

The jumping version is taken from this 1984 Diorama -

Two versions in Araki children book

Some coloring suggestion - here's what happened when you choose one leg up -
you need a supporting rod :

And , of course, Don Gluts' has fallen on its nose ...

Next in this group of seven kits

Are two 1/35 Kaiyodo 'Dinosaur Museum Series' Resin Kits by Araki Kazunari ( 荒木一成 )  -

The first would be this rare 1/35 Triceratops kit :

As I have already gotten one loose before - I'll be happy to keep that one unassembled for the time being.

BrontoScorpio

The 2nd of the two 1/35 Kaiyodo 'Dinosaur Museum Series' Resin Kits by Araki Kazunari ( 荒木一成 )  in this group of seven kits

Is this extremely rare 1/35 T-rex kit :

I was amazed how big the box was, relative to all other boxes from this line -
And no wonder - once opening it -

Really big and anchient looking Resin parts -

It is the only time I ever saw it put on sale and in any case seeing the individual parts at all.
Along with their size - it explain to me for some extent the fierce pocket wrecking battle I had to undergo for this one :

The typical Kaiyodo leaflet says it all here :

Ready and assembled at last :

my scaly bad attitude T-rex - with two rows of spines and a skin texture like that of a big angry crocodile -

I let him use, for the time being, the Kaiyodo 1/10 Deinonychus' display stand :

What an unusual posture has been freezed on time for this animal -
As in the midst of striding while simultaneously starring backwards - and the violent last moment curve of the tail -

How powerful is that ?
see how big the abdominal, chest and upper leg muscles are -

I really like the way how the immense weight of this beast is beautifuly balanced on just one leg -
where the head and tail give a contra resistance to the entire torso -

Eventually, I had to return the Deinonychus its display stand ...   :(

I think my Deinonychus got the better deal ...
I think the two artists did it on purpose - portraying these two on just one leg - to give us a challenge ...

Found this old photo - the only Japanese source I could locate for this item -
But I don't think this Display stand is part of the kit -

I don't see any stand in the Kaiyodo Catalog - if there is - it is well hidden in the sand -

A much better pic - from the 1986' Catalog doesn't reveal it also -

But, as in this ARTPLA Magazine, it releals he has a partner - another 1/35 T-rex by our own familiar Shinichi Yamashita (  山下信一 )  -

And, of course, Don glut has them both ...

It says the appearance is based on the william stout character - but I don't see much resemblance -

In any case, here are the latter two - and I don't think we covered yet the issue of scale - because, as I metioned at first - I was surprize about this T-rex's size -

With some more Kaiyodo 1/35  'Dinosaur Museum Series'  - I think it is safe to say the model has overgrown its stated scale -

Next to two other, much better proven 1/35 scale models - it is clear this one outgrown them -

Disregard the curve, just looking at the tosro part, and at approx. 53 cm along the spine -
I would give it about a 1:27 scale -

Quote from: Duna on June 05, 2024, 03:06:47 PMI have just fallen in love with that quadrupedal Spino and the feathered velociraptor. They are incredible, congrats!
Thanks, Yes they are ...

Next in this group of seven kits -

Are Another two Kaiyodo 'Dinosaur Museum Series' Resin Kits -

First, Kaiyodo 1/20 Monoclonius ( モノクロニウス  ) Resin Garage kit by Araki Kazunari ( 荒木一成 )

The leaflet says it all

This kit is also very rare - but I'm happy I let the previous one go, waited for the next chance -
and did not take part in the ferocious bidding war that happened last time.

The previous results are before you : 156,000 / ( 107 / 1.08 ) = 1,570 USD

All together it is a very nice and sturdy kit

with old style cavity between the head and neck -

Once assembled - it has this real distinctive vintage look -

The skin looks like that of a rhino -

I have now all 3 small ceratop kits from the Kaiyodo Catalog -

All in line -

The one in the middle has issues which one he should face off ...

All 3 painted and unpainted - that's a rare sight indeed -

C @Cake: In a thread that even says "Please don't quote pictures", your posting style is pretty annoying. If you're a real person you might like to stop this.

The 2nd kit and the last in this group of seven kits of the Kaiyodo 'Dinosaur Museum Series' Resin Kits -

Kaiyodo 1/35 Iguanodon ( イグアノドン ) Resin kit ( レジンキット ) from 1987 Prototype production Eito Hara ( 原詠 人 )

Kit consists of one big part and 7 small ones -
it's always a problem when the feet are separated from the legs -
the right angle needs to be precalculated for the animal not be swinging afterwards

Assembled and ready -

A somewhat monstreous old style Iguanodon

Quite famous but rare - exhibitted here - in the Kaiyodo Figue museum -

Or here, in the Kaiyodo Figure world -

Eito Hara made a 2nd Iguanodon of 1/20 that is among the biggest figures of the line -
here they are together with an interesting color application -

As this 1/35 version is somewhat later version - it appeared seperately in the Catalog -
It doesn't really considered to be an original part of this line -

The 1/35 Iguanodon of the line is already taken by the Araki version -
which, although older - seems more to date -
Here they meet each other with not much love lost amongst them -

All my 1/35 Iguanodon statues -

Having presented all my new Kaiyodo 'Dinosaur Museum Series' Resin Kits -
All should find their place in the designated shelf -

BrontoScorpio

Just one last leftover from this group of seven kits of the Kaiyodo 'Dinosaur Museum Series' Resin Kits -

By accident - the seller had tucked into one of the kits I bought, a resin display stand, part of a Diorama, that did not belong to the rest of the kit involved.

Took me some time to verify this is indeed what I thought it was.

I put it here for the forum members as a quiz :

- To whom does this Stand belong to ?
- Tomorrow I'l put out a clue - if there is no solver

BrontoScorpio

No one ? ...
OK, There's  my clue :

Styracosaurus ( スティラコサウルス )
from the 2nd set of 'Illustrated Creatures Encyclopedia Display Model Collection Dinosaur'  ( いきもの大図鑑ディスプレイモデルコレクション恐竜02 ) ,
A Gachpon vending machine product produced by Bandai ( バンダイ ) , expected to be released Late July 2024.

Although my Resinn display stand is dated to more than 30 years ago -
There are many common attributes between those two ...

BrontoScorpio

So, no one picked the above challenge.
It's a pity, I hoped there will be some curiosity resolvement.

So, There's the solution - from the ' Hobby Japan ' December 1990 issue -

The base belongs to this 1/20 Chasmosaurus, along with a fallen tree and a crocodile.

It is said that the crocodile is frightened by the threat of a mating Chasmosaurus that has come to the waterside after the rain to drink -
and jumps out in a hurry. From the looks of it, the herbivorous Chasmosaurus is getting angry and tries to bite the crocodile.

The photo in the 1991 Kaiyodo catalog bellow, is a resin cast cut from Shinobu atsumura's prototype and colored.

The Resin kit with a base is sold in limited quantities and is very rare.
The seller who accidently put the display base in one of my kits - had also sold in parallel this Incomplete kit for quite a considerable amount -
But I don't have much sympathy for taking part in bidding wars that go off way before the closing time ...

I saw this kit just once more, and this time it was complete -

The soft vinyl kit version holds only the chasmosaurus' body and does not include any accessories.
The finished product has different colors, perhaps due to production reasons.

So, meanwhile, I'll produce my own version of the Diorama :
1. The Resin Base
2. The premade soft Vinyl 1/20 DINOLAND Chasmosaurus
3. Tamiya Crocodile from one of their prehistoric scenes
4. some garbage tree trunk I once got as part of the set bellow.

I don't remember now what company did this set belong to.
MPC, Tootsie, Marks, etc.
In any case , it felt and smelled very cheap and not so healthy -
so I quickly tucked it deep in the warehous ...

BrontoScorpio

... And then I got the rest of the Resin kit as well :

Can't believe I finally got it - although unfortunately with a cost much of the same ...

It consists of the 11 parts Chasmosaurus , 2 parts tree trunck and 3 parts crocodile -

Basking in full sun -

An Interesting joint is between the head and neck -

It is hard to capture the fine details of the frill - I try a different angle -

... And some sun light -

And there you go - finally built and finished -
Kaiyodo - 1/20 Chasmosaurus Resin Kit by Shinobu Matsumura - all 4 Diorama parts -
海洋堂  1/20 カスモサウルス レジンキット 松村しのぶ

When it comes all together -

A quick photo series in a circle -

And in the sun -

A comparison - between the pre-made Vinyl - and the assembled Resin kit -

I do not notice any major difference between the two - even the joints between the parts are the same -
It is as if Resin kit parts were prototyped for the Vinyl version -

Not much different from above either -

BrontoScorpio

Finally I can have my group shot of my deeds -

It all have been done in my home workshop during this month of march -

Yes indeed : "You've been busy of late, my friend" !

BrontoScorpio

At this point it's nice to take a break with something else -
I saw not long ago a post of someone - and that reminded me :

Dedicated to My favorite imaginary creature - My Lotr Balrog collection :

From  'Eaglemoss' -  Lord Of The Rings Chess Collection - no. 33 & 113/114

These are miniature Lead Cast figures -

That are quite heavy for their small size even without when you add their base -

Each comes with a colorful magazine -

I remember how impressed I was seeing the Khazad-dum movie scene for the first time -

Then there is this one - Larger but lighter -

The Mighty Balrog - LOTR - by Warhammer -

With my Kaiyodo Figure Museum (  ( 海洋堂フィギュアミュージアム )  Red Dragon ( レッドドラゴン ) by Shinobu Matsumura ( 松村しのぶ )

And then there is this -
The smalest of the Sideshow/Weta Polystone Balrogs -
Arrived broken to dozens of pieces - and been given it's life again - with care and many tubes of glue ...

BrontoScorpio

Next are 4 Special Event limited Dinosaur Resin kits ( 恐竜  レジンキット ) by Shinobu matsumura ( 松村しのぶ )

How I love the sight of untouched Kits that have been sitting and waiting for over 30 years ...

.. Open the lid - and a treasure inside is hid ...

That is three consecutive LOTR posts ...

BrontoScorpio
