Lone Trike

Hello everyone! My name is Simon. I´m new to this forum (of course :D) and just wanted to introduce myself.
I´m a hobby-sculptor from Germany and recently launched my first line of dinosaur model kits! I thought this would be a great place to do a little bit of promotion ;)

The models are all in scale 1:60 (so small enough to fit on every shelve :D). The first two, which are available already, are a Triceratops horridus and a Tyrannosaurus rex

The next two models will be an Ankylosaurus magniventris and an Edmontosaurus annectens

Then there is a 1:20 model of a Carnotaurus sastrei, I might make available as well (don´t know yet! It´s bigger and quite more complex in terms of production!)

Please let me know, what you think! I´m always open for suggestions and criticism (as long as it´s helpful :))
The model kits are available on my etsy-shop Lone Trike Studio
I currently offer free, tracked shipping worldwide!
And for more information, pictures etc. on my projects feel free to visit me on DeviantArt

Sincerely,
Simon :D

Thank you very much for the welcome and the compliments! I see you did some sculpting yourself. Keep it up, man! It´s a great and rewarding hobby. Nothing better, than having something in your shelve, you made with your own hands :)

Willkommen, Simon!

Wonderful sculptures.
I realy like the Carnotaurus resin-model, especially the evil marine iguana colour scheme and his head.

tyrantqueen

I like the Carnotaurus.  The plating on the Trike reminds me of a rhino. Was that intentional?

Welcome to the forum, Simon.

Those look great, I especially like the Ankylosaurus. At first glance I thought those are Shapeways/3D prints, but they are resin/epoxy?

Minmiminime

Wow, these are stunning! Beautiful sculpts, and so dynamic :)) Welcome to the forum

Great sculpts indeed, and I like a lot how small they are. Wanna see more theropods!

Mini Minmi

Beautiful work! So much detail in such small sculptures, they are fantastic! I'm especially fond of the ankylosaurus because I find it looks like he is smiling. hehehe

Digibasherx

Welcome Simon, these sculpts are amazing.  Loving that Trike and the T-rex.

Dinoreplicas

Great work!
I like the mid-action pose style which really gives a feeling of life. Not easy to achieve, especially at that scale.
Nice detailing too.

ceratopsian

Beautiful pieces.  I look forward to seeing more.

PhilSauria

Very impressive, and I like the dynamic poses. Just starting to try some sculpts myself and I'm amazed at the level of detail you are able to put into these smaller figures. Not familiar with the wax medium, are you working over armatures or just molding the material itself?

Halichoeres

Very nice pieces! And welcome to the forum!

Yes, it was! I thought it would be an interesting design, since Triceratops sometimes is referred to as a Rhino-like dinosaur. But there aren´t really many artworks out there depicting that.
I know in reality that probably wasn´t the case at all! But I liked the idea and wanted to try something different :)

Thank you! This gives me confidence, that I´m heading in the right direction in terms of detail-quality :D
The original sculpts are super sculpey, except the T. rex, which is a sculpting wax. The final casts are Polyurethane-resin.

Thank you! I´m always open for suggestions regarding future sculpts! Maybe I´ll start a poll, as soon as a few suggestions are gathered!

Thanks a lot! The detailing is mostly a matter of patience, but it´s also the most rewarding step of the sculpting process, as you see your work slowly coming to life :D
Wax is a tricky medium to work with, because you have to use heat to make it malleable. But on the other hand, it´s a self supporting material. So you don´t need an armature! The polymer clay does need an armature, though!

Great to hear, you are sculpting as well! Do you have any pictures of your work so far?

Lone Trike

Just want to give a quick update on the current mold making process. I started with the Edmontosaurus, since it is less complicated than the ankylosaurus :D
Although I had to take the tail off, because it would have been problematic to fit it into my pressure pot. But on the other hand the cut section provides a good spot for the channel were the resin will be injected.

In response to your pictures question - I have just started a thread for my sculpts; the first, an Apatosaur is a bit chunky and rough around the edges but it's a start. Not quite up to your quality!
