I am excited for Safaris 2016!!!!  The Masiakasaurus and Shunosaurus are two that I am really excited about.  Actually, based on the pictures Carcharodontosaurus is the only one that I am not getting a good vibe on.  Of course I am not going to judge them yet, just saying my first look, gut reaction.

I'm surprised that there is no review for the Papo Tupuxara yet!

Happy Halloween! The only thing scarier than a Tyrannosaurus rex is two of them! Meet Roughskull and Blueback. :D :D

Oh, nice review!

Also, is this just me or is that "Sammy Allouba" guy extremely rude?
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I don't agree with everything they've said, like their comment on the new 2016 Safari figures.  However I can see what they say about the Papo "running" Tyrannosaurus...  Or should that be the Papo vomiting Tyrannosaurus? ;)  I think those two Papo T. rex in suspsy's review are sculpted very well and the paint is applied very neatly (except for on the claws as suspsy mentions in the review), but I too think they look terrible.  They both fail at looking like a real T. rex (regardless of if T. rex had feathers or not).  I find the running one's head looks awful (I wonder why they thought it was a good idea to base it on Vastatosaurus?), while I don't like the rearing one's pose at all and its new colour scheme looks artificial.

I like the post but just want to know that if these toys are safe for kids to play. Its looking like they are made up of very hard material.
My son is 6 years old so I should buy this for my son?  :-\

That new color scheme on the squatting T. rex looks like something Schleich would come up with.

Yep pretty much. Although the sitting Tyrannosaurus is an older figure so it can be granted a little leeway.

I admit I do have a soft spot for the green sitting Tyrannosaurus. It the first dinosaur figure I bought when I got into collecting seriously.

I don't have it anymore though. Sold that green sitting T. rex for some good cash.

I'm tempted to hope that Papo will take some inspiration from the latest Sideshow Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops statues, and re-do their Trike and rex. I am so glad they are moving away from JP. If I wanted JP designs I would buy the original Kenner toys.

It does kind of, yes, but Papo's done a much better job of blending colours together than Schleich could ever hope to achieve. And after a decade of green, brown, and gray toys, I'm just happy about the fact that Papo finally appears to be expanding their colour palette. But we shall see what 2016 brings.

And Sim is absolutely right about both T. rexes failing in terms of anatomical accuracy. As I noted in the review, I didn't bother touching upon this since the reviews of the original toys already cover it.

And like Tyrantqueen, I too have a soft spot for both of these toys.

I think the new repainted sitting Tyrannosaurus is very reminiscent of something John Sibbick would illustrate. Brightly coloured, patterned back with a duller underbelly.

I finally had a moment to finish it. (actually I was sick of grading papers and decided to do something else, unfortunately I have to get back to grading). I hope its ok.   :-\

My first in a long time. Just a quicky.
Thanks for the great review.  As a fan of Allosaurus, it truly looks like an awesome model.

My first Chap Mei review:
http://dinotoyblog.com/2015/11/16/electronic-tyrannosaurus-rex-chap-mei/

Nice review.  Even though I do not like Chap Mei, this looks like a fun toy for kids to play with.  (or adults)   ;)

suspsy

As I said in the review, Chap Mei is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd sooner buy them than JW toys.

More CM reviews are in the pipeline!
