... and another for today: Majungasaurus by Vitae

Looks like Adam will need to add Vitae to the list of categories. Don't forget to tag this review as "theropod" so that it shows up on the Theropod page!

It's great to see more photographs and a review of this figure! Whilst it's not without its merits, it's definitely far poorer in quality than I'd anticipated :o It's gone from being a "possibly, someday" to a "definitely nope"

1. I love those Battat minis. They're all I'm missing and the original Acrocanthosaurus.

2. That Majungasaurus is beautiful. I want one.

3. The loss of Chap Mei would cause much sorrow in me. They are great sets. Hali, if you want to sell that Dunkleosteus set to me, pm me. No, wait, I'll PM you.

I'm delighted to see all these newest entries! (including my own  O:-) ) The Steppe Mammoth is a truly excellent figure, and I just bought the Baryonyx today. I'm guessing there will be a lot of JW/Mattel reviews in the next few months!

Bullyland's Belemnit
"Belemnit"??  :))

Neat figure, though; we could use more prehistoric "squid" toys.

Minmiminime

I love the photography of the Belemnit! Brilliant idea

The figure actually says "Belemnit" on its belly, which is the German word for these animals. I've always wondered if it was meant to represent a particular belemnite taxon, say, from Solnhofen. Perhaps there is a similar model on display at a German museum.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

That's very likely, as Bullyland produced a lot of models that are either based on fossil remains found in Germany, specific fossils or reconstructions shown in museums like the one in Stuttgart. When I was in Solnhofen last year there was a particularly nice fossil of the soft parts of a belenmit (sorry, can't remember the taxon), but as you can see in the link, the fossil did not show the fins seen in the model. Maybe Bullyland based it on another fossil or maybe simply deemed it too boring without such a feature....
