much as i like the new Spinosaurus and admire Schleich for somehow trying to "improve", i am dreading that it will have those stupid rounded teeth tips. i just might end up getting only the Animantarx next year. oh btw, that Dimetrodon looks awful whatever color it is.

avatar_sauroid @sauroid To be honest, it's not as bad as it could have been. When your primary consumer is children, they have to take all sorts of precautions.
Also, the teeth further back in the jaw look decent. They're not fused together like the juvenile Tyrannosaurus, which was a great letdown.

Fembrogon

Wow, that Spino looks pretty good. It's not obviously inspired by crocodilians, and the muted color scheme seems to suit the animal, without looking too plain. I'll definitely consider buying this.

The new paint scheme for the Giga looks decent; too bad the rest of the figure isn't.  :P

Shonisaurus

The spinosaurus of Schleich for me is the best done to date by a toy dinosaur company (in its new version) although I'm sure it can be matched at least by the spinosaurus of PNSO or Rebor, without denying the genius of other companies that have made this magistral figure as Collecta, Favorite and of course Safari.

Undoubtedly the best carnivorous theropod made by this brand and it is a pity that they have not made a new dimetrodon or a new giganotosaurus. The painting schemes of these two repainted figures are good and nice but they need an update. The Schleich dimetrodon is a good figure but with a more detailed and improved sculpture it would have been a masterpiece. As regards giganotosaurus, his painting schemes are decent but he needs an update of that figure.

The perception and idea that I have of the giganotosaurus does not fit with any of the interpretations that Schleich has done so far independently that the last sculpture whose repainting is being discussed is the best of all the figures of giganotosaurus.

I just don't understand Schleich. They were able to produce some wonderful figures that is Replica Saurus 12-13 years ago, why can't they do that now? Why would a company systematically make their own products worse?

The same reason franchises like Jurassic World and Transformers keep churning out substandard movies: why bother making a good product when people are willing to pay for a bad one?

Not the best analogy. Both the Jurassic World and Transformers franchise have excelled at doing what movies are designed for: To provide big-budget, quality entertainment. You get your bang for your buck. For roughly $20, and within a span of two hours, you are consuming a couple hundred million dollars worth of a movie budget, which takes a couple hundred of thousands of talented work hours to realize.

It's a shame about that Giga. Not only because it's the same terrible toy again, that's actually not a bad colour scheme. It's wasted on that thing.

I think we need to grin and bear it.

Shonisaurus

Honestly in the denture of the spinosaurus I do not see any defect.

1) The teeth are differentiated.

2) On the other hand it is true that they are blunt, but it is to prevent children from having accidents with the figure.

This is from my humble point of view. For me the figure is exceptionally good.

IrritatorRaji

The only issue I have with the teeth is that the paint is spilling onto the face. Otherwise, I also think the teeth are fine :)

Rathalosaurus

May I just ask where you guys get the official images from? I've been trying to find them on my own to no avail.
Dude, I very like Dinos and I cannot understand those who don't.

It bears repreating, these are toys meant primarily for children. We shouldn't be expecting to cut any meat with these. I'll be evaluating this based on the overall appearance of the model.  ;)

DragonRider02

Are Spinosaurus and Animantarx the only new figures for 2019, the rest are Just repaints?

Shonisaurus

avatar_DragonRider02 @DragonRider02 The Schleich 2019 dimorphodon is missing, just as it is not a repaint.

Yeah I am surprised we haven't seen it's stock photo yet.

The new Schleich Dimorphodon is a definite improvement over their previous version:

It looks like that knockoff I've seen of the CollectA Dimorphon I've seen floating around Ebay...

I don't know much about Dimorphodons but... those arms, they look bizarre...!
