When are you going to add jurassic park/world?

avatar_Crackington @Crackington you should be able to click "remove" on anything that's mistakenly in your collection.

Thanks Halichoeres,

I was looking at the browse categories bit and forgot to look at my collection (doh!)

Been able to correct things now.

You are welcome! As Halichoeres already wrote, you can remove the entries via MyCollection -> Show All
I have already thought about installing an option directly on the page. I have many ideas, but also had less time this week.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres
I wanted to install the number of pages in "my own collection" as soon as I finished the "Browse" page. The system will be the same. Thank you anyway. That shows me that my ideas are going in the right direction  :)

Would it be possible in the longer term to add more golden oldy companies such as Aurora, Inpro, Marx and Mpc?
...

I would love to add these! Unfortunately, these are not all that familiar to me now. I'll have to do some research first. But you can also send me a list or a link suitable for it.

I can not answer this question easily. When it comes to the models of Kenner / Hasbro and Mattel then the answer is "this week". If you mean other / certain figures, you have to tell me more  ;)

DinoToyCollector

Finally!
Since today it is possible to sort all items according to the rating (descending from the best-rated). The feature is also interesting for me and I'm looking forward to a few results.

I also added the pages and the sorting on the "MyCollection" page.

And with great gratitude avatar_IrritatorRaji @IrritatorRaji, avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres & avatar_Ravonium @Ravonium, these 3 people are on the team list on the "about" page, where they belong

Halichoeres

Why thanks! I'm glad to be able to help out a little.

I forgot to mention that since yesterday also the classic Jurassic Park action figures by Kenner are in the database. There are unfortunately many pictures missing. If someone can help out, I am very grateful. I will add more figures during the week.

Thanks and sorry for my delayed response. Two good websites to see these old models are the already mentioned Dinosaur Collector site: www.dinosaurcollectorsiteb.com
and for Aurora Prehistoric Scenes www.tylisaari.com

I could also help with lists of the models too as I have some old resources like the Prehistoric Times Dinosaur Collectables book.

I do have quite a few old models too, e.g. all the Inpros and some Aurora's, Marx, MPC, Tedcos, Starlux etc, so could possibly send you photos. I am reliant on a mobile phone for this and noted that Postimage tends to make the photos look blurry, but could perhaps figure a way around this?

Anyway, would be glad to help in any way I could.

Wow, great Job avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres  !

avatar_Crackington @Crackington

Nothing to apologize for. Thanks for the tylisaari link. I did not know that. I'll take a closer look at the oldies coming week.

I have now integrated almost all the reviews from the top companies section of dinotoyblog. There are a few missing, because the respective figures are missing in our database. That's the first point on my list for next week.

Halichoeres

Not quite what you're after Crackington, but I did add the ROM figures. The more recent ones (Cambrian series) I was able to photograph, but the older dinosaur series I'd need help with. But you can add them to your collection now at any rate!

This looks super awesome! I really love organizing things and I can already tell I'm going to love this site, it looks great ;D

DinoToyCollector

After some research on the internet we can now welcome the vintage dinosaur figures by Marx Toys on our site. For many, these are the models that started it all in the 1950s.
At the moment there are unfortunately no pictures to the models. But that will surely change soon. The figures are recorded in the database without color variants. If you think they should be listed individually, then let me know. Marx Toys has also produced trees and other flora that are still being recorded.
For me, it was an exciting digression through the history of dinosaur models. I think with this knowledge I will be able to deal with the successor companies soon.

avatar_LeapingLaelaps @LeapingLaelaps
Nice, that you like it  :)

Crackington

Wow, that's fantastic putting the Marx models on! They are probably the most complicated of all models with their long production history and myriad variants.

It might be best to keep them simple for now and add colour variations if you receive photos. One tiny point, the original Rex is known by the Marx fans as the "Pot-bellied Rex" due to his lack of exercise! They must have had him down as a scavenger 40 years before Jack Horner!

Thanks for this, very impressed with the speed you did this!

DinoToyCollector

Yes, I often stumbled upon the name Pot belly Rex. Funny how such a thing is established. Also, as opposed to the first T-rex for the second T-rex, I often read the name "Sleek T-Rex". I will definitely put the names in the infos.

Halichoeres

Would it be worth adding special edition Marx figures like the painted ones produced for the Nuremberg toy fair?

I think so. In the end, the database should cover just about any figure (even if it sounds impossible). So it makes sense to record these too.

I'm rethinking the look and feel on the browse page (name, product number, info, animal) to create a more homogenous image.
So I ask around: Should the name look like this:
Product number - Name or
Name (product number)
At the moment it is species - productnumber - name (although the species ist tagged below)
Every idea is welcome.

I would also like to show information that leads to related models. For example, a link to all single figures in a box or the original version of a repaint. Good or bad idea?

I love what you're doing, but could someone please remove the Ornithopod label from the Tianyulong please?
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

I'll work on the few special Marx figures that I'm aware of, then. I am sure I will miss many.

I personally like "species - product number" but perhaps it's just because I am used to it. I don't have a strong opinion.

I think links from one figure's page to the pages of related figures (figures it has been bundled with, for example) is a very good idea.

This is a funny problem. Of course Tianyulong and other heterodontosaurs are not ornithopods, but neither, for example, are Thescelosaurus or Hypsilophodon, at least not according to a cladistic definition of Ornithopoda. Cladistically, Ornithopoda is the sister group to the Marginocephalia. As it stands, the way "ornithopod" is construed on sites like this one (and indeed on the DTB) is wildly paraphyletic. We have all gotten used to "non-sauropod sauropodomorphs" and "non-avian theropods," but what do we call the ornithischians that aren't true marginocephalians, thyreophorans, or ornithopods? Maybe the non-genasaurs at least should be "Dinosauria - basal Ornithischia" although for a while it would be only Tianyulong in there, until someone makes a Lesothosaurus, Pisanosaurus, Heterodontosaurus, etc. The other option would be to collapse the Ornithischia into a single category like theropods currently are, although I think fans of ceratopsians, stegosaurs, etc., would object.

Hi Halichoeres,

Sorry, I inadvertently missed this in all my excitement over the Marx models.I'm afraid that I don't have any ROMS, but as they're wonderful Canadian cousins of the Invicta's, would love to change that one day!

Thanks to you too anyway and for your work on Stefan's site - I'm enjoying it very much.

Until there are more basal Ornithischia figures I'd personally prefer grouping them all together. I personally consider Ornithiscia to be the functional equivalent of Therapoda and, given how many Therapods get figures made of them, I think if they can all be grouped together, so can the Ornithischians. I think I'm in the minority with that opinion though.
