I voted for Pantydraco, Rhinorex, and Megapnosaurus, but I also thought of Nasutoceratops afterward.
Guide to whether I use suffixes in clade references:
-If it has the unaltered name of a member genus, even a nomen dubium, include it. Examples: Tyrannosaurid, Titanosaurian
-If it has the name of a genus + sauria, leave it off. Examples: Ornithomimosaur, Oviraptorosaur.
-If it's not named for a genus, leave it off. Examples: Genasaur, Gravisaur.
-Exceptions to the 3rd: Maniraptoran, Saur-/Ornithischian

Voted for Dynamoterror and Erectopus, though the latter solely as a joke. Pantydraco had actually gone over my head.

I tend to be pretty lenient on dinosaurs using proper nouns in their names, butchered latin aside this has been a fairly standard practice for a long time. And this of course extends to Chinese words which I see many complaints about. It's easy as English speakers to go "wow that sounds weird/silly, why wouldn't they just use latin?" and then not even notice the many scientific names borrowing English words.

What bothers me is when they take words from multiple languages for no reason. If you're naming an animal after a specific place or person than obviously you must borrow from that language, IE Fukuiraptor. But Dynamoterror has no such excuse. They chose the name solely for its aesthetic appeal, giving no thought to mixing languages to do so.

I think this is basically what was done for Mojoceratops too.

That's because Zuul is a great name...
I like it too, but I do think it's rather silly.

Since someone else is likely going to suggest it soon, please add Thanos to the poll  :P

I've added it, but I'm wondering whether to reset the poll so that everyone who has already voted can vote for Thanos.

i voted. As an entomologist, the funniest animal name I know goes to a ground beetle in the family Carabidae (I study click beetles, Elateridae). There is a Neotropical genus called Agra. When a group of Agra was being revised, the entomologist did not have enough material to get a good feel for what really defined the one particular species, so he named it 'Agra vation'!!!!

Thanos still can't hold a candle to Dynamoterror. At least with Thanos anyone can tell at a glance that it's a goofy name, but give it a few years and a low budget Discovery Channel special and sure enough there are going to be rabid fans demanding the "ever so awesome" Dynamoterror be taken seriously.

Pantydraco currently in the lead... says something about the maturity of those who voted, including me lol  ;D
LOL

I can think of two other options that could do the same in the poll if there names are taken WAAAY out of Context

Dynamoterror screams SCY-FI movie (or however they are spelling their network these days). And don't forget its sequels: Dynamoterror vs. Skarktopus and Dynamoterror vs. the Sharknado!

avatar_Gothmog the Baryonyx @Gothmog the Baryonyx, I'd advise against resetting the poll, as some people might not notice it's been reset or might not want to go through the list and vote again.  If it's possible, perhaps you could add the option for members to change their vote.  Although it seems some people have already managed to do that, as the vote log is showing they voted for Thanos over a month ago, how, I have no idea?

Sim

I think I've worked out why two of the votes for Thanos are from over a month ago even though Thanos was only added to the poll a few days ago...  It's because those two votes were for "Other", and "Other" was later changed to "Thanos" so the vote log no longer shows them as having voted for "Other", it instead shows them as having voted for "Thanos".

Gothmog the Baryonyx

avatar_Sim @Sim I haven't found an option to allow voters to change votes but I will have another look.

Ah, I don't know how that happened, I didn't actually mean to get rid of the 'Other' option.

Unfortunately I think you're right. I have already seen people on facebook say they think Dynamoterror is a good name.

I like the names Zuul and Thanos, but I hope there isn't a huge trend in paleontology of naming things after characters in genre fiction. I just don't think it'll be that cool or novel after the ten thousandth time.

I'm fine with Zuul, but one is enough for me. With Thanos is already too many, but I know there will be more.

Not a dinosaur, but let us not forget the dicynodont named Bulbasaurus phylloxyron (phylloxyron="razor leaf").
