Hi all,

New member here from the Netherlands. A dinosaur enthousiast since I'm a little kid. (wow, that was even before the first JP movie came out) I always kept my interest in paleontology, even though I'm in a whole different line of work. It's amazing to see how different our understanding of dinosaurs is now compared to the early 90's.

Ever since I'm a little kid T. Rex was of course my favorite dinosaur and to be honest, it still is. My collection of dinosaur toys consists of the old scrappy toys I've had as a kid, as well as some more modern offerings. T. Rexes from Papo, Safari, Collecta & PNSO but also some other species, mainly from Safari. I remember I always wanted the big red Rex from JP but my parents never bought it for me (I was 9 when the first movie came out) so I guess I have to compensate something now haha.

I'm lurking at this forum for quite some time now and I've figured to join in on the discussion!
But today, I'm just being father

My welcome to the DTF. As I say to all the new members who show up on the forum, enjoy this website and honestly if you are a good collector or at least a fan like me of prehistoric animals and dinosaurs, you are in the right place.

Welcome! I too used to covet the Red Rex as a kid, and no one would buy me one. I have it now of course!

I actually stumbled upon the Dinotoyblog for the first time back when I was looking up the old Red Rex via Google, a few years ago. That is actually the moment I started collecting some models again, but I never looked for toys and models that big to be honest. Even as a kid I already preferred scientific accuracy over the JP-look, but that Red Rex was the coolest thing on earth.

And thank you all for the kind messages!

How, its crazy how my life was so similar to yours, only difference being age. I also remember how badly i wanted the red rex and it costed far too much(much more than the real price) so i had to wait, to the point where i didn't even want it anymore, haha, good times. As a kid, i started to also prefer accuracy over JP(this was after i was over with the red rex)

Welcome aboard, buddy! Trust me, this is gonna be one of the best decisions of your life. You are gonna meet so many friends, i can guarantee you everyone here will be nice and understanding. Have fun!
