Another great woolly mammoth toy from Wild Republic! This product has gone through several overhauls since its original introduction in 2007: the fabric color was darkened in 2008 and the fabric itself was changed completely in 2012 from a stiffer, white cotton-backed fabric to a more flexible fabric with matching brown backing. The woolly mammoth was reduced slightly in size and given new orange tags in 2017, and finally it had probably its most significant redesign for 2020. It is this version that I will be reviewing today.

The 2020 woolly mammoth has noticably softer and glossier fur to the touch. The all-black button eyes have been replaced by ones with brown irises, the trunk tip is all pink, the two “fingers” are sculpted without the black thread nostrils, and there now has a brown tuft on the end of the tail instead of black. There is also a noticeable convex curve to the upper part of the trunk where it attaches to the mammoth’s face.

Her body fur is a darker brown, almost black, with shaggy dark reddish-brown fur as an accent on the crown of her head, belly, and shoulder hump. Her back has the usual slope of a woolly mammoth’s back. The tusks are shorter and more curved, and the material used for her ears and foot soles is more of a light orange color now. The lower body is longer and the brown tusk sockets on her face that her tusks stem from are also longer. The orange tags from the 2017 mammoth are carried over to this one. She is sufficiently stuffed to be soft, but not cumbersome, and fits in a 10″ to 11″ pouch. I love this about her! 🙂

I rate this woolly mammoth as a five-star toy with excellent workmanship, durability, and attention to detail. She is available at online stuffed animal retailers that sell Wild Republic animals, and will likely hit museum stores soon. Stores that have her are AmazonStuffed Safari, and the manufacturer’s official site.
