Is it just me or does the Rip-and-Run Owen and Blue not sell at all.

Even worse is the repaint of Blue as a generic green raptor. No one will ever buy that!

LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

You're a strong, independent, dinosaur DNA thief that don't need no man.

But like actually, do they play well?

avatar_mgaguilar @mgaguilar  I mean for rip cord toys? I would say yes, I don't have much of a baseline to compare them to. If you're like me and for some reason consider it important to collect every scan code, they're a necessity. Overall, there are better ways to get dinosaurs in those color schemes even. The only one I'd recommend to casual collectors would be the Owen, as the motorcycle isn't really obstructed by a large inorganic box like the others, and to recreate scenes from the first JW film.

Though, I will say, the raptors, sans the boxes and mutant half-legs, have the best sculpt of any Mattel raptor. The head is practically perfect looking.

Faelrin

Well I ordered the Indominus Mosasaurus quest set today. I should have it by Tuesday. In any case I am totally hyped about it, and this also means I'll have two Mosasaurus now, since I got my other one back in April. So I guess this means the one on my bed can have a buddy now.

avatar_Loon @Loon A bit late, but cool set up there with the skeletons. I really need to pick up those others at some point.

I finally picked up the Battle Damage Stygimoloch the other day; I just wasn't invested enough to get it sooner, but I wanted a stiggy in my collection. Honestly, it's also like a holdover while I wait for the real deal in Spino.
I checked one of my local Targets again, and while they've restocked a lot of stuff - both Indos were there, lots of minifigures, TONS of TnT rexes, and even a Mosasaurus - Spino was still nowhere to be found. I did talk with an employee, though, and they might be able to put in a request once the figure is "in stock".
I saw someone on Twitter claim it won't be sold in stores, though.  :o Just... What gives....

MLMjp

If you live in an European country that has the store Müller, you may want to go there. I'm currently studying abroad in Hungary and I've found that Müller stocks the following:

-Battle damage Tyrannosaurus and Monolophosaurus.
-Battle damage Super Colossal Tyrannosaurus.
-Battle damage 15 mini dinos pack.

So if your country has this store, you might want to check out, hopefully you might find what I have said above. Me personally I am really happy with my T.rex & Monolophosaurus pack!

EDIT: I have also seen the Mosasaurus there.

Faelrin

I just saw that Smyths is expected to get more of the Legacy Collection figures (estimated late Sept to early October):

Legacy Gallimimus: https://www.smythstoys.com/ie/en-ie/toys/action-figures-and-playsets/jurassic-world/jurassic-world-legacy-feature-dino-gallimimus/p/164321005

No Legacy Dilophosaurus or JPIII raptor up yet though. I hope this means the US releases of all of these remaining Legacy (and hopefully the remaining Battle Damage figures, such as the Gallimimus) will be following suit. Still waiting for that Spinosaurus here of course, as is everyone else that's here and wants one.

Well I got my Quest for Indominus set today. Didn't come without its issues though sadly (mostly the Mosasaurus, and I'll get into that).

So this set is huge. I didn't measure it or anything, but hopefully there's a sense of scale soon enough. The Mosasaurus pictured here is actually the one I got back in April since the one that came with it had issues.

So the skeleton is pretty cool, and big, with lots of articulation (the arm joints and one of the foot joints are very stiff, which I knew ahead of time thankfully). The submarine is also really neat, and I've been wanting this thing for a long time now. The arms are pretty fun to mess around with, and of course it lights up. I have not tested it in the water yet, but I'll hold off on that for now anyways.

While I couldn't get it flat on its feet, I was still able to compare it with the only rex from this line that I have, the Extreme Chomping one (not counting the mini anyways). I also took a pic comparing the length between the Mosasaurus, and Indominus skeleton, and rex.

Anyways the Mosasaurus had scuffs over the belly and a piece of the fin (labeled A) that plugs into the sockets was loose right out of the package and snapped off as I tried to get it in there. I'd like to contact Mattel about this, but I don't know what they could do.

IrritatorRaji

Ouch, that's incredibly disappointing. That Mosasaurus looks like it's already been pre-owned, definitely not what you want to see in a brand new product. Maybe instead of contacting Mattel straight away, maybe contact the place you bought it from?

Faelrin

I got it from Walmart (online through the app, because that's the only way to get this currently). I already sent Mattel an email through the contact us thing, and now I have to play the waiting game. At the very least they need to be aware of the tight joints on the Indominus rex skeleton, and I did ask them if there was a preferred safe way to loosen them up. I did retain the packaging (it's lovely, how could I not keep it? But the Mosasaurus remains in there as well for now), as well as the box it was shipped in, in case they would like me to return everything for a new set.

Well the Mosasaurus aside, I'm absolutely loving that Indominus rex skeleton (aside from the stiff joints). I mean I can't wait to see how this thing scales up with the Spinosaurus, and it will be cool to compare this to the eventual Indominus rex in the flesh that could get made for next year's line. Mosasaurus aside, it's the biggest Jurassic thing I own so far (until I get the Brachiosaurus from next year's line up that will completely tower over everything). The Submarine thing is cool too. Probably my first Jurassic vehicle in all honesty. Unless I count the Matchbox minis I got earlier this year.

Come to think of it I probably should have compared it with the Indoraptor. That thing is its successor after all.

Here's a pic of Owen and Battle Damage Blue I threw in just for fun:

I've ordered a few of these sets... most recently two for a friend in New Zealand. She had me open the boxes to inspect them. One of the Mosasaurs had the same type of scuffing on its belly. As for the joints, I've been suggesting using a hairdryer to loosen them up. You don't want to break them by stressing them too much. The easiest thing to do would probably be to just order another set and return the faulty one to Walmart. I had to do this with my first set as the Indominus skeleton had two right feet. I was able to return it to a local store.

Faelrin

Well I managed to get the shoulder (rotation) joints working on the Indominus skeleton. I didn't even need to use the hair dryer trick either. I was just careful about nudging them until they budged. The in and out hinge joint  (the name escapes me) was a pain though. I had to dig my finger nail onto side of it, for each arm, and clean out what was either left over plastic and/or paint (or sealant). I even managed to get that tight ankle joint to move after doing the same gentle nudging. So now I can have its arms posed in a more preferable position instead of the default Kenner red rex look they had.

And here is one of the joints I was talking about that I needed to "clean out" on the edges with my nail:

The level of detail suggests that they are also planning a STEM Anatomy Kit for the Indominus Rex. In other words, there will probably be multiple Indominus Rexes

Here's my list of codes from before, now corrected:

  • 15680BM3 - T. rex
  • 15880BW3 - Ceratosaurus
  • 15680BP3 - Triceratops
  • 15680BX3 - Postosuchus?  Edit: This was the Pachyrhinosaurus
  • 15680BR3 - Not sure what this one was, sorry Edit: This was the Postosuchus
  • 15680BT3 - Blue
  • 15680BN3 - Indoraptor
  • 15680BV3 - Not sure what this one was, sorry Edit: This was the Stygimoloch
  • 15680BQ3 - Stegosaurus
  • 15680BS3 - Diplodocus
  • 15680B03 - Dimorphodon
  • 18180BU3 - Spinosaurus
So it seems like, aside from the bottom two (one of which was obvious, the other I bought), I was right about mostly everything, just from feeling them in the bags. I was wrong about the Postosuchus, and of course there were two I couldn't figure out.

I can't remember if I've already thanked you for it, but if I haven't, thank you very much for this list! It's much appreciated :D

same here! I was able to use your first list yesterday to pick up some minis. Thanks for updating it!

I just wanted to follow up, the third wave minis arrived, and your codes worked perfectly! The first few letters are different +must be a region thing) but the last ones, the ones that count, lined up just right.

I now proudly have a Postosuchus, Ceratosaurus and Pachyrhinosaurus!

Faelrin

avatar_SBell @SBell I'm glad they were able to be of use after all. Congrats on scoring them.

So I just want to give an update on the situation here. I got a response from someone at Mattel, and they are going to be shipping me a new Mosasaurus (I just saw that it has shipped recently). I also gave them an update on how I got the arms on the Indominus to be less tight (since I did that the day after I did the contact us thing). And of course I made sure to thank them too.

Mattel is doing good by you it seems!  Not quite as good as Hasbro did for me once.  A BYO Lightsaber kit I had stopped working, I sent it back and not only got a new one back, but an Ultimate Anakin Skywalker figure as well.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Faelrin

It's good enough for me, cause now I'm going to have three Mosasaurus, even if one does have issues unfortunately. Once it arrives I'll be sure to take a pic of the pile of sea reptiles, that will be taking over my bed since I don't really have anywhere else to display them, and I need to save some space for that huge Brachiosaurus coming out next year.

Now if only those remaining Legacy and Battle Damage figures (including the Spinosaurus) would hit stores soon (although Smyths seems to be getting the Legacy Gallimimus and Legacy JW Pteranodon soon, so those in the UK keep an eye out). I've seen numerous posts where the Sinopachyrhinosauroceratops has been spotted in stores (in the US) now, so I'm going to be keeping an eye out for that one in the coming month. Ted Brothers also posted a review of it on youtube, if anyone wants to take a look.
