I figured it was Nothosaurus based on what was shown in the trailer. Nice to see Nothosaurus making a comeback, I haven't seen one on-screen since Dinosaurs and Cadillacs.

They don't sell so yes
They sell well enough, otherwise we wouldn't have got Parasaurolophus, Edmontosaurus, Ouranosaurus and Iguanodon. Also, the first Hammond Collection release was Parasaurolophus.
Compared to how many Theropods, Ceratopsians and Ankylosaurs they sell?
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

Ankylosaurs only have three genera. Minmi, Sauropelta, and Ankylosaurus, which has had several repaints/retools. Even they could use some more species diversity. At this point I'd say ornithopods as a whole are better represented (marginally, with only 5) despite lacking in repaints/retools.

Ignoring miniatures, accessories, and repacks, the mainline has had 10 figures total, 3 genera, with 6 of those being from Ankylosaurus:

-2022 Dominion Roar Strikers Ankylosaurus
-2021 Dino Escape Ben & Ankylosaurus 'Bumpy'
-2021 Dino Escape Fierce Force Sauropelta
-2021 Dino Escape Roar Attack Ankylosaurus 'Bumpy'
-2020 Camp Cretaceous Attack Pack Ankylosaurus Bumpy
-2020 Primal Attack Attack Pack Minmi
-2020 Primal Attack Savage Strike Sauropelta
-2019 Dino Rivals Roarivores Ankylosaurus
-2018 Fallen Kingdom Attack Pack Minmi
-2018 Fallen Kingdom Roarivores Ankylosaurus

That said, worth mentioning we still don't have a single JPIII Ankylosaurus yet.

Ornithopods have had 9 figures total, 5 genera, 5 of those figures being from Parasaurolophus:

-2022 Dominion Cowboy Owen & Juvenile Parasaurolophus
-2022 Legacy Collection Isla Sorna Capture Pack (w/ Parasaurolophus)
-2022 Hammond Collection Parasaurolophus
-2022 Dominion Roar Strikers Iguanodon
-2021 Dino Escape Roar Attack Ouranosaurus
-2020 Primal Attack Attack Pack Callovosaurus
-2020 Primal Attack Sound Strike Edmontosaurus
-2020 Camp Cretaceous Sound Strike Parasaurolophus
2019 Dino Rivals Dual Attack Parasaurolophus

And of course we are still missing Corythosaurus, which would bring the total up to 6 at least, if say were to finally get it in Legacy or Hammond next year.

Edit: Anyone have quick access to pie charts? I think it would interesting to see this info visualized.

avatar_Prehistory Resurrection @Prehistory Resurrection Nothosaurus is from the Triassic period. That said we've actually been spoiled for those, with Herrerasaurus, Postosuchus, Shringasaurus, Tanystropheus, and now this one too. Lystrosaurus itself was from both the Permian and Triassic period, so it could be included here too. Wonder if we'll get anything like Coelophysis (though the Ornitholestes is close enough in sculpt), Eoraptor, Ichthyosaurus, etc.

Quote from: Blade-of-the-Moon on June 29, 2022, 04:23:59 PMI have him and the Mattel Brachiosaurus and they are very close in terms of height.  If this one isnt just longer than the apatosaurus but taller than the Mattel Brach then yeah it's the largest to date sauropod toy.

Thank you for your reply! Wow, it's quite the beast then! Huge sauropods are rare nowadays, so this (probably the biggest of them all) is most welcome. Not like I'll probably ever even buy it, I have neither the space nor the funds  ::) Still, a gorgeous model all the same.

Spoiler
That new wave of dinosaurs is pretty intriguing, too, especially the theropods and Nothosaurus. Interested in seeing what they all are.

The new Geosternbergia also looks quite nice. Hope it doesn't have teeth this time round  ::)

avatar_Galaxy @Galaxy Gosh I hope that's legit. Looks so much better then the Legacy one releasing this year. Looks so much more like the maquette or concept art.

The body, wings and legs are definitely the AC Pteranodon mold (shame, not a fan of how they did the legs). Hopefully the head and neck are changed and it's not just the upper head that's new.

neck looks more bent than my AC Pteranodon and on 2nd glance the wing fingers maybe thinner too.  more than likely this is also smaller to go with the HC line.

2022 Mattel JWD Roar Strikers Sinoceratops Review by Andy's Dinosaur Reviews.

Yikes... Compare the JWD release to the original grey and green Sinoceratops... Paint apps are really nonexistent on these figures nowadays huh?

Same goes for this Rugops. Barely any paint or patterns on it. It unfortunately does not have a twin-keratin ridge on it's head, but instead a singular midline one. I believe I've found the culprit of why this Rugops looks so weird: Corey Ford's Rugops.

It seems the sculptor based the toy SOLELY on this image; who's pose gives the impression of Rugops only having two fingers, the angle making it seem like it only has a singular crest, along with the odd choice of feathering too. Note that while Ford's reconstruction is not the best, it's not nearly as egregious as Mattel's offering. If only the sculptor bothered to do 5 seconds of research and reference a second or heck even third image of the dinosaur, we would've gotten something much more true to Rugops.

GiganotosaurusFan

Good catch! Now, it just kinda seems like a copy of a copy. Earlier, there was another feathered Rugops picture that I think they also based upon, because the colour scheme is pretty close.
Any Giganotosauruses are friends. Any other carnivores are...I think I'll run now.

Faelrin

Yeah the lack of research some of these sculptors do bugs me. Like they had all the material needed to do the HC Parasaurolophus justice but they ignored it. (Or the Legacy Geosternbergia, but if that leak is legit that appears to be rectified with that HC one, but I really hope they didn't forget the pycnofibers as well on it). I mean if they had just bothered to look at the original SWS maquette at all they'd notice it has 3 toes, and mitten like hands (except the stubby claws at the tips), with opposable clawless fourth digit. I shared more of this, and images, in the # of digits Mattel thread. If I can find and access that with a quick search, then there's no reason they also can't.

This is also the issue with this year's Iguanodon having butchered hands (and not even film accurate either), or the polydactyly Ouranosaurus and Edmontosaurus from prior years. It bugs me nearly all of their ornithopods have these issues, when the rest of the sculpts are pretty decent. Or the seemingly Ark inspired Siamosaurus from this year, Dimetrodon from 2019, etc.

The Parasaurolophus in Camp Cretaceous does have a hallux however.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Oh it did? Did it also have 5 fingers like the HC figure does as well? Unfortunate that one didn't get it right either.

Interesting.

looks a bit like it in sculpt if not color.

Carnoking

I'm glad to see the Hammond Collection expanding but I'm a little disappointed to see them padding out the line with background dinosaurs instead of making sure the key critters got their dues first. I believe we got a dilo silhouette already, which would cap off the on-screen animals from the first film (barring an HC brach, but I won't hold my breath), but there's still plenty of other dinosaurs with more screen-time to be done instead! Oh well, I'm sure they'll be here soon enough if they're not already on the way. Just seems a weird choice if this really is the next one up to bat, right in line with releasing a Kosmoceratops in the Legacy Collection when there were other legacy dinosaurs still to be done.
