Paleontological debates between different Countries

I recall hearing two things that piqued my interest.
"The Chinese field of Paleontology contrasts with the western views in a couple of ways, for example
1) They still go for lipless looks on theropods
2) they believe Nanotyrannus is its own genus.
Rather if it's a mere anecdote/rumor or truth is not the exact point. I am just curious to know if there are any divisions in the Paleontology world by different countries/worlds having different opinions that often correlate with their academic environment. Not by time, but by geography.
Similar to how people from different backgrounds interpret history, linguistics, etc in different ways.

I think I recall reading that when it comes to pterosaurs, palaeontologists in South America are "splitters" while those in Europe are "lumpers".  This prevents there being a consensus.

Mainly differences in lumping and splitting, yeah, which is pretty arbitrary anyway. But it's not as much "countries" against each other as just teams of researchers that happen to work together in each country and reaching the same conclusions.

I know it's not countries having different beliefs, but I am looking for correlations.
