I rather like it, but there's not a baguette's chance in a parking lot full of seagulls that I'm shelling out $100+ for a 1/35 scale model. Thoughts?

Take into consideration it is a resin model given the $100 price point, which in my opinion at least is quite reasonable and more affordable than most. Including David Krentz 1/35 AMNH Tyrannosaurus which is about $140.

With the issues I noticed on this model, I don't blame wanting to avoid shelling out $100 for it.

Thank you for posting this suspsy! I was tempted to post about this model, but the more I looked at it, the more issues I've grown to have with it.

First, this is based on "Stan" which is already off-looking given how small the head is compared to the body.

Besides the issue of the proportions, I was concerned about the model's right ankle to foot position. Is that an even possible bend for the animal to achieve? I feel like it shouldn't have such an abrupt bend to it. This could be subjective of course.

The colors also remind me more of the Walking with Dinosaurs Tyrannosaurus rather than the combo "Bison and Crocodile" as they stated.

Not sure how I feel about this model really. I just find Krentz way more worth it in terms of price and looks. That's not to say Lana's is bad, but their hype around it would have led me to believe they'd knock it out of the park with this one.

While I fail to recognize the named color schemes (Bison and American Croc) I sure do like the colors and patterns they applied aswell as the casual stance and proportions. Looks dope! But a hunded bucks, yeah, that`s a measure. While I deem the price justified, I personally would (and will) go for like three to four other figures I rather add to my collection.

PS: Yes, that ankle position is possible and in fact quite accurate...

The price is not 100 USD, this is the deposit for pre-ordering the model. The price for the standard painted model will be 219.99 USD, and for the unpainted it will be 94.99 USD. For the custom painted variant, they list 199.99 USD. The latter seems a bit weird when compared to the standard painted variant. See here for details: https://lanatime-shop.com/products/lana001

Oops! I should have also stated in my original post that I am referring the price of $100 for Lana's and $140 for Krentz's as the model kit itself not the full build & paint up.

Thank you!

Quite apart from the final cost, and the use of resin, which combine to place the model outside of my range, I'm rather okay with the use of 'Stan', with his head being smaller proportionally than that of 'Sue". It's good to break the stereotype of one size fits all. I have the W-Dragon accurate T-rex, which is based on 'Stan', I believe, and while it took a little while to get used to the smaller head look, I'm fine with it now.

I still feel as though the Wdragon version was done nicely to portray Stan's head being smaller than that of Sue's. It looks as though Lana's is exceptionally smaller, maybe it is just me though.

You may be right.

Wow, never thought I'd see the day when I think a 100 USD range figure would be a good price (it is resin, but I have always assumed those to be in the 300s range).
Pretty reasonable price for a resin

Remember $100 is before build up and paint. So really the kit's finalized (paint and assembly) cost is usually the heavy hitter.

I thought I read that Stan had a larger than average head for a Tyrannosaurus? That said it doesn't mean that SUE's is smaller.

I believe this is correct too. Above in my original first post in this thread, I posted an image of Stan. Shows that the head is definitely quite large still even for a Tyrannosaurus but not "Sue large."

That head bugs me still and in the end it's another tyrannosaur figure. I'll have to pass.
