Well this should be fun! I was thinking about where I could review the Groovy Tubes sets of beasts, monsters and creatures.

And it also opens D&D I suppose...my son has the gargantuan Bahamut on order so I should try and claim that one...

D&D is definitely suitable! I'm completely open-minded about what we classify as a monster.

I admit I will find it difficult tiptoeing the line between plesiosaur and Loch Ness Monster. Some that are marketed as Nessies actually make for quite serviceable plesiosaurs.

We were discussing this on the reviewers board and decided it might not be necessary, with the 'other toys' section here as  surrogate place for discussion.

I would rather have it in its own dedicated place. I'm into monsters, but I want to show respect to the dino- only folks who come here just for that. Nobody likes to scroll through stuff they don't care about.

Do any active forums already exist about monster collectors?

A new forum will need a minimum viable population to work. The Dino Toy Forum has a kind of monopoly on the dinosaur collectors niche and is always busy. The Animal Toy Forum only has about 25 daily user logins, and maybe a dozen who post. Any less than that would be an existential crisis for it. Activity depends on the competition. ATF launched when there was already a similar well established forum occupying the niche, and that's certainly part of the reason why the ATF is quiet.

So, is the monster toy community itching for a new place to gather, or are they already settled somewhere?

I think I reserved the WizKids Bahamut (which hasn't arrived yet), but I'd also like to reserve the Schleich Eldorador Lava hyena! I already have it and everything!

I think that's where discussing how Nessie became a plesiosaur after plesiosaurs were popularized would come in.

I know, I just wanted to show off my (incomplete) dragon, lol. I literally have hundreds of 28mm monsters collected over 40 years. Original Ral Partha, Grenadier, RAFM, Reaper, etc., including dragons, giants, ogres, manticores, Cthulhu monsters, undead, etc. I originally planned on being a paleontologist until I got into the oil industry, but I've always been into monsters!

If you don't have enough reviewers yet, I would like to. I'd still do the dinosaur figures for DTB, but this is where my heart is. I do need to finish the HG Alamosaurus, though, and then I would only do gaming figures for DTB.
