Sim

Hi, I'm looking for the Favorite Coelophysis and Redondasaurus set.  I will probably be willing to pay a high price for it.  If you're interested in selling it to me, please get in touch with the price for it!

BrontoScorpio

I'm quite sure every one of the 5 Favorite mini duels is still retail available, for a small amount - if you just take the time to search ...

Sim

Thanks avatar_BrontoScorpio @BrontoScorpio, but it's not a mini duel set.  It's one of the larger museum exclusive sets.

I removed the mention of triple digits as I realised an amount with that number of digits has very variable value depending on the currency.  I'm basically willing to pay a high price for the Coelophysis and Redondasaurus set.

I had a quick search for them and came across this thread reviewing them:

https://sts-forum.forumieren.de/t18243-kinto-favorite-redondasaurus-vs-coelophysis-set-walkaround-by-kikimalou

Nice pictures of them (great figures btw) but it also interestingly mentions a couple of our members - avatar_brettnj @brettnj (apologies if this is incorrect) and avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres.

Wonder if you could check with them if they had any suggestions on where to find them?

Apologies if you'd already seen this btw!

Sim

I hadn't seen that and all help is appreciated avatar_Crackington @Crackington!  I have asked Brett about this set and he told me he hasn't seen it available for a long time, and also that someone else has asked for the set before me.  So I'm doing what I can to find the set on my own now, although Brett has told me he'll let me know if he finds one.

Crackington

Glad it's helped a bit Sim.

Are there any clues on which museums had them originally? Could be worth checking online shops?

Best of luck anyway- lovely figures well worthy of Grail search status!

Thanks avatar_Crackington @Crackington!  The dinotoycollector site says the set is from the Fukui Prefectural Museum.  I've already searched ebay plus searched for the Japanese names of the two genera in the set on Google images.  All hasn't resulted in me finding the set.  I've asked Favorite on Facebook if there's a chance they'll reissue the set, perhaps with different colourations.  I'm sure lots of people would like a chance to get the Redondasaurus, judging by the amount of people wanting it on the dinotoycollector site.  Personally, I'm more interested in the Coelophysis!

If that's all you need, we might work something out. I have no intention of giving up the Redondo though!

The set was not only exclusive there, but was only a season or two. Of the box sets of the time, it's probably the hardest to get now

Those 5 boxset were made on 2016 by Fukui Museum (Japan) for a dinosaur Expo and they were sold on the bookshop as a Favorite exclusive for the show.
In that bookshop were also available 2 more exclusive Favorite figures (both available in past expositions only): Tarbosaurus and Saurolophus

The boxset were:

Zhuchengtyrannus VS Sinoceratops
Bistahieversor VS Pentaceratops
Guanlong VS Yinlong
Redondasaurus VS Coelophysis
Yutyrannus  The Duel

All of these are wonderful figures for sure. I had snapped them up fairly shortly after they became available from a source in Japan who had acquired all of them at that time. Glad that I did as good luck in getting them now. I currently display the Tarbosaurus and Saurolophus with my PNSO and HLG figures and they don't look out of place, quality-wise.

All five turn up on occasion, but some more than others. But only from resellers.

I search for them every morning and got all five sets for a buyer last year. Two were duplicates for him, and I have them listed together on eBay now with shipping from him in the UK (I'm in the US.). I also have the same two of my own listed individually with shipping from the US.

Here are those listings...

Though I make only a nominal profit on the vast majority of my sales, I try to get as much as possible when I come across extreme rarities like these (For instance, I have one of the larger Dawn of the Dinosaur resins shipping to me next month and will auction it (I'll post it here when I list it on eBay.).).

Originally though, my source got well over one hundred sets for our buyers who pre-ordered them, and though we took more than our usual fees, we still only made a few dollars each on them. Had I only known then...
