If what the fan account says is true, then it's an automatic disqualification for me.

I don't really have space for another lipless (scientific) rex for my collection. And Tyrannosaurus isnt an enticing enough genus for me to ignore scientific discrepancies like this. :'(

Haolonggood, just relase the goddamn promo pics so we can see if the words of the fan account are true or not!

If it really is lipless, then I'm shocked, and not in any good way.

i mean we just had brachiosaurus with beak & teeth, triceratops with keratinized face and some weird scales on it's frill. Lipless theropods aren't not going away that easily. It's an image in everyone's head.

suspsy

Well, it's best to wait for official images. But if this is true, then it's pretty inconsistent of Haolonggood. If you're committing to lips, then commit to lips, period.

They are consistent at making lipless T.rex to be fair.  ::D

Haolonggood has never been consistent with lips tbh. Like rough release order goes:

Carcharodontosaurus (lipped)
Tyrannosaurus (lipless)
Allosaurus (lipless)
Carnotaurus (lipless) & Daspletosaurus (lipped)
Megaraptor (lipped) & Dilphosaurus (lipless)

and so on

Good thing I don't give a rat's patootie about whether or not theropods have lips  ::D  8)  O:-)

Clearly Haolonggood doesn't either 💀

If this is true, maybe Haolonggood are pulling a PNSO and releasing a new lipless rex now so they can release a lipped one a couple of years down the line  :P

Personally I still think they should just release a T. mccraensis – that would be a real way to stand out, and they'd still get to benefit from name recognition by calling it Tyrannosaurus while also giving us a species that's never been made before c):)
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Link isn't working for me.

Guys ffs that account is a fan page from someone who has no relation at all with Haolonggood, it's as far from any official HLG statment as anything we can claim here in this comment section  ::)

DavidJamesArmsby

I wasn't overly invested in this but now that the tension is building I've become fascinated... show us those lips (of lack there of) already, Haolonggood!

They seem to have some contact with Haolonggood even if they don't directly work for them.

Also just a thought, but if the rumors about Haolonggood getting the license to the WWD revival are true, then we might end up getting a lipped rex then.

Sim

What I don't understand is why people are upset about a lipless Haolonggood Tyrannosaurus when no-one was upset about the CollectA Maip being lipless.  Is it because the Maip is a mediocre figure?

I'm guessing because Maip in any form is more of a welcome surprise, whereas a high quality and accurate lipped rex is highly sought after and expected by the community.
