To me, the lipless beasts look worse than monsterous...they just look DERPY, which is something I cannot abide in my collection.  ::D
I absolutely see the derpy thing too! XD
My dog used to do this weird passive half-snarl/jowl-suck combo which exposed her teeth when her mouth was closed and she looked so gormless and stupid. I see her derpy face in a lot of lipless theropod reconstructions! XD
Not so much this one, but a lot of others.

HLG's price points have always been competitive, but selling a figure as big as T. rex for just $35 is very impressive. This will probably be an excellent seller.
That said, I'm not sure I'll be getting one myself. I have so many rexes already, on top of currently eyeballing the Eofauna and Recur figures. I'd be delighted to see a Tarbosaurus at this quality and price, though.

Hopefully the (rumored?) Giga will come with lips like the Carch did.

I have the sense that people here don't know what to do with this HLG T-rex. What I'm referring to is this - the review for it has been up on the DTB, yet so far there's only two votes. That's astonishing, even in the present context of voting being limited to "supporters" only. Historically, rexes get a ton of votes and comments. Not this one. Interestingly enough, their first T-rex was also met with thunderous silence too.

That's an announcement on the DTB, not a review. I don't think announcements get as much attention. For example, I vote on reviews but not on the announcements.

Well, Paleofiguras shared some in hand photos and darn if it isn't growing on me
(Weird, this has literally never happened before :P )

Right! Though other announcements have gotten rather more feedback. Also, my comment about the first one still stands as I don't believe that it was ever reviewed.

There are even more pics at Paleofiguras Facebook.

Scales on the face look great and it's suitably rotund. Might be a pickup when I have another order. IDK.

Correct! It was never reviewed! I certainly never wanted it.

suspsy

I never had any interest in the first T. rex.

The first T. rex had stiff competition before it was even out the gate, between PNSO, BOTM, and others; I think most everyone here already had their set their eyes on better rexes.
This new rex could face the same challenge, but it's much nicer-looking and WAY more affordable, so I bet it'll end up getting more traction.

I don't know about you, but I really feel bored this year with the releases.
HLG is very slow this time, and is waisting time with species alwready done to death, and better.
PNSO has like given up...

Can't wait for HLG to get rid of their theropods so that we can go back to the cool figures.

Did you not like the Haolonggood Brachiosaurus? I think this one is great. I am not interested in their T. rex at all, so it is good that we are done with it.

And PNSO is at least back to releasing something. We need to see what they may come up with later in the year.

Not even dinosaur-models-artworks can hide this overbite and make it look fine.

For me it looks fine with his fix.

But yea I probably became a bit spoiled, I was used to the very fast pace of release from last year, and now that it has stopped, along with PNSO being more discreet...

Turkeysaurus

How many lipless dinosaurs has Haolonggood done recently?

Pliosaurking

Well looks like I'll have another blue Haolonggood dinosaur.

Same. $35 for a Blue T.rex, at this level of detail and quality? I can't really pass that up, and as far as I'm concerned, it looks lipped with the mouth open...
