avatar_thebermuda303 @thebermuda303 Found Fadeno's S. angustriostris, not as tall as GAT's indeed, but the back profile is still noticeably different. I imagine it would differ even more in life with soft tissue on top.

I think it would've been cool if the two colour schemes were more distinct. One striped and one mottled. Also note the scalation differences between species.

Paleofiguras posted more pictures of the Saurolophus:

The size would seem to confirm this is osborni

Trenchcoated Rebbachisaur

The weird toe position looks less weird from seemingly any angle other than the exact one they chose for that photoshoot, thank frick. I think I might get one of these after all (probably the grey), the midline scales are annoying but I dunno. There's worse issues on figures I already own, I'll probably manage.

Quote from: thebermuda303 on April 27, 2025, 04:03:25 PMImmature S.angustirostris have up turned crest like S.osborni has. If we take figure's size in to consideration that'd fit pretty well.unnamed.jpg

This makes me think that I might use this figure as a juvenile S. angustirostris. That would match better with the scales on the back and the stripes on the tail, as well.

Now the only question is which variant to get? I'm quite drawn to the gold one, but it also looks pretty similar to the gold HLG Edmontosaurus which I already own. (And of course the blue variant is very nice as well.)
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Quote from: Flaffy on April 28, 2025, 08:46:18 AMProbably a result of people not knowing/being familiar about the integument paper. Many artists post-publication (2012) still reconstruct either species with integument that is not entirely consistent with fossil data.
The skeletal S. osborni by Fadeno that you posted in this post has the midline feature scales too!

Indeed, hence my additional comment. Which is why I don't particularly blame HLG for the error since it's relatively obscure knowledge compared to other things. But equally still a shame given how rare dinosaur soft tissue fossilises.

As avatar_MLMjp @MLMjp says, it's a Saurolophus, and an updated one at that. I'm happy to get one in my collection. My level of tolerance (in terms of erors) for rarely made taxa such as this is much higher than say Tyrannosaurus afterall.

I'm quite excited that HLG seems to be making some of the more overlooked hadrosaur species, fingers crossed they tackle a Brachylophosaurus or Gryposaurus soon. More lambeosaurs such as Corythosaurus would definitely also be appreciated.

I just ordered a couple books by Joschua Knuppe but as soon as I can I will definitely pick the grey up as well! The only question is do I also get the brown...

thomasw100

Still not sure if I should get the gray or the brown one. Both look great. But I am slowly running out of space.

Nehalennia

Models like these make me feel rather sad I had to give up on collecting dinosaurs and focus on prehistoric mammals and Permian life instead due to space restrictions. She's beautiful!

Also the grey for me - eventually.

thebermuda303

First thing in the morning I woke up and ordered it lol, great start of the day

Maritimer

Bucking the trend, I've ordered the gold.

Plan to display it with a cast of the skull . . . if that ever arrives from the fellow I ordered it from back in ... November . . .

Will be part of my micro-museum of Mongolian dinosaurs.
