Has anyone seen the Power Devour T Rex in person"

Thoughts?   With it's chunkier body. slightly smaller arms with clapping (non-prontated) hands it's somewhat more accurate than all other JP/JW Rexes.  I'm not a fan of the grey paint scheme.  It won't fit in well with my beloved Epic Roarin' Rexes but i could probably rationalize the colour difference somehow.  I believe it's the same size as the Epic Roarin at almost 22 inches, but chunkier.

Anyway, if anyone has it or has examined it i would like to hear what you think.

I have it and it's pretty great, as for the colours, it looks more green in person. Like a male colour.
I dont have the epic roarin but it is in that same size range.

it doesn't have good articulation. all you can really do is rear it up. to keep the jaw closed you have to switch it off while its chomping. but to me it's worth it for the sculpt and size alone.

This is from CollectJurassic's video on it, you can see they're the same size more or less. It would fit in as a male even though it looks a bit less cartoonish.
It has smaller feet but it also has more teeth than it should, so I guess that's a trade off x)

You said epic roarin rexes, so you have multiples? I'm curious to hear about that

Prehistory Resurrection

It seems like the Power Devour is rarer than the Lab Lockdown one. Don't know what happened with the distribution for this one.

I'd rather have more teeth. I've got an Xacto knife, lol

I have not seen the Power Devour T. rex yet, maybe it will become more available during the next wave? I'm content with the Lab Lockdown T. rex but I would still like to see this one on the shelves.

Thanks for all the quick responses.  That's a great comparison shot, Dilopho.  Ideal.

I was actually thinking of using it as a female to the 'male' Epic Roarin' Rex, since it's chunkier and looks a bit bigger as a result.  Not really using this as anything to actually do with JP/JW but to display with my various 1/18 figures as a cheap (relatively) T Rex.

I know it's not really 1/18, but the head and legs are 1/18 (the torso and tail are about 1/22, the arms are about 1/16 and the feet are about 1/14..lol). But it works well enough.

If you cover the goofy feet up with some realistic foliage, the Epic Roarin' really looks pretty good.  I have 3, all purchased on discount (during the pandemic when things were hard to come by); i have 2 battling my BOTM Triceratops and one giving food to 2 Collecta baby T-rex figures.

I'm in the mood to add another Rex to the collection but the Epic Roarin' are too expensive now and i do like the chunkier look of the PD Rex....even better now that i see it's more of a greenish colour.

It's pretty much the same colour as the Giganotosaurus HC figure. The tan colour on the face looks nice in person, too.
There's a very subtle attempt at airbrushing some dark colour onto the lower jaw, but it's too faint to really matter. x)

Look at how thick the jaws are! The tail is a bit short but it really doesn't bother me at all.

Let me just post one more photo to really illustrate how good the face sculpt is. The main reason why I wanted it.
It's hard to tell when the jaws are in their default position, but this is such a perfectly Stan Winston rex, aside from those extra teeth. It's just lovely.

Now Andrewsaurus, I don't want to overspam this thread, so let me just finish off by posting some pics I took just for you.

As you can see, this makes a really great 1:18 type T. rex, and especially as T. rex came in a tremendous variety of shapes and sizes.

I had trouble taking the shot from above because the BOTM is so long, so you can't see the tail tips, but while the PD T. rex has a shorter tail it's actually not by an annoying amount.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Just got home yesterday and finally got around to opening mine. As other have said it's a pretty epic JP Rex design. Very robust..except his thighs to the knees..that one part is pretty thin almost like the flatter budget line.

Thanks for those pics Dilopho.  It does compare quite favourably to the BOTM...in fact it's more robust in some ways.  I knew the Epic Roarin' wasn't bad beside the BOTM Rex as far as head and leg sizes (i saw several comparison shots years ago) but the PD Rex even looks better and holds its own in bulk.

Yes, i imagine T.rex did vary in appearance over the 2 million years or so it was around, especially given its vast geographical range and the many sub populations that no doubt sprang up as a result.  You can lose site of that variation when looking at skeletons.

Received my PD T-rex today.  Wow, it's so much larger than the Epic Roarin' one even though they are similar dimensionally.  With tail stretched out it's nearly 23 inches, so about an inch and a half longer than ER Rex. And it's about 3/4 on an inch taller at the hips, with legs more bent than ER Rex.  But looks so much more robust.  A 'Sue' to the Epic Roarin' averaged sized or sub-adult or perhaps even male Rex.

A few things i don't like about it though.  The arms are too big and clunky, going to graft a pair of smaller arms on from an old discarded Mattel Rex toy from a few years ago.  Don't like the permanently wide open mouth (will put a little wedge of plastic behind the head so i can have it open the amount i choose) and i still don't like the colour scheme, especially the black stripes down the back which look crudely done to me, so probably going to repaint it similar to ER.  But otherwise love it.
