There's not a lot of info on the actual process of "de-extincting" the moa in those articles, but if it's anything like the "de-extincting" of the dire wolf, it'll basically be a tinamou that maybe looks kinda like a moa.

Also this is going to be a lot tougher to pull off considering that moas and tinamous are not even in the same order (as opposed to direwolves and gray wolves which are in the same subfamily).

Bird cloning is borderline impossible at the moment, since bird embryos require calcium eggshells to construct their skeletons.

Besides, I'm not tursting them to just gene edit a duck and call it a moa

I'm from Mauritius and have seen many news articles/ videos that the Dodo (Raphus cucullatus) is coming back quite some time now. Several bones and a well-preserved head with soft tissue have been found. Nothing till date. So, I am not hopeful about the Giant Moa.

Not that de-extinction of mammals went any better, the pyrenean ibex isn't even a different species from the iberian ibex and the specimen died shortly after birth.
