I used UV resin. I just put a few drops on a silicone mat (so that it would come off easily when hardened), and then I just painted the flat backside of the drop, little pupil black dot first, and then some flecked yellow and orange for the irises. Relatively easy, and very cheap, because one could make hundreds of eyes with one little bottle of resin  ;D
