Rebrickable is an interesting website which showcases a few LEGO MOCs prehistoric animals that can be built using only the parts from existing other LEGO sets.
The figures themselves are not as sophisticated as the pieces of art of Nikaido nevertheless, they feature this "good old LEGO-appearance" that I love so much ! 8)
This Gigantoraptor has been built using only the parts from the Majestic Tiger LEGO set :

The Plesiosaur, Ichtyosaur and Tusoteuthis have been conceived with the parts from the Dinosaur Fossils LEGO set :

avatar_Protopatch @Protopatch the horns on the triceratops are from the same set. They're used in the decorative foliage but it's a little hard to see in the render images.

I'm often amazed by the ingenuity of users on Rebrickable. That Gigantoraptor is a great rebuild of the tiger set.

It's fitting to make a plesiosaur from the fossils set, considering the original Ideas submission included one!
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

This cool project of Cambrian set is indicated as expired on the LEGO ideas website, but it has apparently been developed as I came across another website that is selling it with a discount :

I would be tempted to buy one, but wondering whether it's legit or not...
The Trilobite and Ammonite are particularly beautiful.

EDIT : the link above doesn't seem to work anymore. Probably a con.

Definitely not an official set, but possibly the creator uploaded it to Rebrickable. Sometimes knockoff companies make sets based on those. But could be just a scam as you suggest.

A stunning Architeuthis assigned to the LEGO master Mitsuru Nikaido, according to Flickr (but I couldn't find this model on his Instagram profile) :

Indeed, having done again some research on the internet, I stumbled upon the same kind of suspicious websites, offering some Architeuthis LEGO sets with discounts.

In short, we need to be very cautious O:-)
