Has anyone else started to receive Cloudflare "checking your browser" screens when accessing the blog and forum?

Hi Dr Admin - this message briefly appeared the other day, but then vanished very quickly.

I'm also on a phone (using Android). It hasn't happened since though....

Thanks, I'm glad it is not too pervasive. I couldn't access the site for a while, even though I was completing the captcha etc, it would loop me back. I left it for a while and when I came back it no longer happened.

It's nothing malicious, it's just an extra layer of anti-bot security powered by Cloudflare. I think the anti-bot screen comes up for actual visitors when the site is under attack or experiencing heavy traffic.

Anyway, please let me know if it becomes a nuisance.

Hi All,
Anybody else having problems with getting onto the blog and forum?
Despite having the links in my favourites bar and using them regularly, I've suddenly found that I'm getting asked to identify busses, boats, etc., by Captcha. This just goes into a loop and I couldn't get past it.
I eventually 'fooled' it by opening multiple windows and going round in circles until one let me in.
a real nuisance!
Don't know if any moderators or other responsible person can shed any light on it?
Now I'm here, I'm off to read al lof the things I couldn't.
Happy 2022!

Topics merged B @bigbear. Yes, as you can see above, I've been having this issue myself. If it doesn't go away on its own I'll look for a fix.

By the way, may I ask what browser are you using? I'm using Safari.

Hi again,
I've just managed to get in again. After posting my topic, I got kicked out by the dreadful Captcha and couldn't get in again. I left it overnight and this morning it let me straight in. I've used Firefox, Edge and Chrome on a W10 laptop and all of them had the same problem. No matter how many times I did the Captcha puzzle, it just looped back to the beginning.
Glad to be back on - it it lasts - as I've been stuck at home for 5 weeks without getting out and am suffering from 'cabin fever'! :-)
While at home I keep finding boxes of dinosaur models I had forgotten I had! :-)
Cheers!

I notice we have the same IP address...

Cloudflare doesn't like our IP address for some reason. I suspect some bots have been using it so Cloudflare is mistaking us as bots. But I don't understand why it is so sporadic. Half of the time the page will load, half of the time the looping Captcha screen comes up.

You could try using a vpn service to see if that would change anything avatar_DinoToyForum @dinotoyforum
That's weird your IP has a duplicate, I've didn't know that could happen.

Nope. I use Google Chrome, though.

Yes, that's a workaround. Or just an in-browser proxy service.

Yeah, it's odd to share an IP, not sure how it even happened...

I haven't encountered the Cloudflare screen for a couple of days now. Has this issue cleared up for you, too, B @bigbear ?

bigbear

Thanks for following this up. I've only been onto the blog and forum a couple of times in the past day or so, but it does seem OK now. Time will tell, I guess? :-)
