I can't believe it's been six months since I last updated this thread – I've been too busy with work to do much painting!

Anyway, I'm currently working on another figure from the Tamiya Mesozoic Creatures set: the Oviraptor. I decided to customise this into a Corythoraptor and update the scaly 90's look to a more accurate one.

For reference, here is the original figure (not my photo):

I've never customised a figure before, and in fact I haven't done any sculpting at all for many years, so my preparation for this mainly consisted of all the Kayakasaurus videos I've watched  :P

The hands were semi-pronated, so first I heated them under the hot tap and bent the wrists into a more accurate position with tweezers. Then, I covered the body with an air-drying putty called Milliput, and gave it a feathered texture using a wire brush. I also used Milliput to lengthen the crest. I tried using it to sculpt the wings and tail feathers too, but found it too hard to work with, so I made these out of Sculpey. After baking these, I superglued them on and smoothed the joins with more Milliput.

Here is the result, before and after priming:

Considering it's my first attempt at customising, I don't think it turned out too badly. I have a few other figures I'm in the middle of painting before I get to this one, but hopefully I'll be able to get it painted up before too long.

Very good work avatar_Elengassen @Elengassen - I have this set and painted it some years ago. It wasn't easy as the figures are so small, so even more impressive that you have customised it too. Well done!

avatar_Crackington @Crackington thanks! I'd be interested in seeing yours as well  :))

Wow it sounds a bit like the work of an alchemist however, the final rendition is really nice. Congrats !
I look forward to seeing more of your customized figures 8)

You must have very steady hands to work on such a small item!

Thanks! I have a bunch of models that I need to finish painting, but no other customisation projects at the moment.

It was quite tricky indeed!  :*D

Nicely done, especially considering the tiny scale!

Update on my custom Corythoraptor: I realised the neck was way too short for that genus, so I decapitated it and extended the neck with wire and Milliput, before sticking the head back on. I think it turned out okay.

I've also managed to finish painting another figure from the Mesozoic Creatures set: the crocodile. I based the colours on a modern croc photo reference, and decided to give it hyperpigmentation inside the mouth, Eofauna T. rex-style. I'm currently intending to use it on my Hell Creek shelf as Borealosuchus.

Greatly executed as we cannot suspect such a process on the final rendition^^

I've finished painting another Tamiya figure, the juvenile Parasaurolophus. I based the colour scheme on PNSO's Parasaurolophus so that it could serve as a baby to mine. My painting skills might not be up to PNSO factory standard, but I'm still fairly happy with it  :P

I deliberately refrained from adding orange on the crest – this seems like the kind of trait that would indicate sexual maturity.

I think they make quite a nice little family pair!
