TIL that Basilosaurus is found in the US too. Neat. Curious to see what that skull ends up belonging to.

I will reiterate that even though basilosaurus is found in Alabama, I will die defending my position that they are a terrible choice as a state fossil for my home state, there are many options, but basilosaurus is too rare and has no specific tie to the state in terms of the history of discovery, although, where I live ( around Mobile) there are many places where I have found petrafied wood and some deposits of corals, nautiloids, and marine invertibrates.
