Melanorosaurus is a little bit taxonomically messy, and as part of the cleanup effort, these authors restrict it to a lectotype, meaning that a lot of specimens that have up to now been considered Melanorosaurus are now considered to still be in need of identification.

The material considered definitely to be Melanorosaurus is shaded in gray in this skeletal by Scott Hartman:
