Plastic. No wood is present.

Haven't received my figure yet, but comparing again the Bandai's Citipati with the Safari's model (thanks to avatar_DavidJamesArmsby @DavidJamesArmsby and their neat pictures I've reused below), I actually find that their anatomies don't look alike at all : the proportions/length of the forelimbs, claws as well as the shapes of the hindlimbs, tail and head...

I'm not sure which one would be the most scientifically accurate, as they could almost represent 2 different species ? ^^

Meanwhile, the "most stylish" one to my eyes remains the Bandai's model.

I think the Safari is C. osmolskae, and the Bandai is the unnamed oviraptorid occasionally referred to as Citipati. May Cunningham's Law strike me down if I'm wrong.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Yeah, that definitely makes sense thanks c):)

Haha I knew a Merce Cunningham (as a result of my previous job :*D ) but had never heard about Ward, nor his Law lol
Always a pleasure to get some new knowledge thanks to seasoned experts like you on this forum !

QuoteDoes anyone who has the display model Citipati know what the mammal is on its base?
Not so conclusive at this point, but I came through this video on Youtube where the reviewer first presents the little animal next to Citipati as a mouse (@ approx. 6') and then immediately says that there is no specific indication in the set, but it should be a sort of little mammal (honyūrui) :

Catopsbaatar is a possibility (Barun Goyot Fm according to Wikipedia), I'm also thinking about Kryptobaatar (Djadochta Fm) ?
Anyway, if there is any specification in the leaflet, I'll let you know upon its reception.
Unfortunately, there is no piece of information in the leaflet that comes with the figure, but having seen an old documentary (1994) on fossil hunting in the Gobi Desert this afternoon, I'm now wondering if it could possibly be an eutherian mammal like one of the following species :

This mammal will remain a riddle but whatever it might be, it is defintely a great « extra » !

Quote from: Protopatch on July 13, 2025, 07:12:06 PMPS : by the way, what is the difference between "baatar" and "bataar" ?^^
By the way, the specific epithet "bataar" is apparently a misspelling.
The subsidiary question would be thus, why it hasn't been officially rectified yet ?^^
