Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water CM subforum...  >:D

I've been lazy and bored with customizing lately, but then the new Schleich micros came along. And, well, there's no diplomatic way of putting this: they're awful (want me to write a super snarky review?). But, dino hoarder that I am, I've still had to buy some, so how to fix these fuglies...

Well, like this. Here's what remains of the Tyrannosaurus, now a rather fat terrorbird (/terrible fatbird).

The legs on the theropods aren't that bad (although the feet are huge and the barely-recognizable-as-a-raptor lacks the big claw) so avification seems a sensible option under the circumstances. That way one can hide all the anatomical funkiness under a coat of floof, hack off the arms and ridiculously undersized tails, and lose the face entirely.

The Spino and Pentaceratops are being Frankensteined into something different altogether, and as for the craptor... well, it won't be pretty.

That may be one of the greatest customs I've seen so far. Looking at this and your modified velociraptors, you clearly have talent for making these. I look forward to seeing what you'll make the rest of the Schleich minis you mentioned into.

Looks great! I might give playing Frankenstein with ugly a models a try myself... ;)

I said frankensteining and I meant frankensteining! Spino and Penta have gotten head transplants and are on their way to becoming another terrorbird and a Crystal Palace Megalosaurus... >:D

Headswap #1 complete:

I'm a huge Harryhausen fan, and I've wanted a model of the Phorusrhacos from Mysterious Island for ages... however, the x-plus version isn't very easy to find. I've tried to do the colors as accurate to thf movie version as possible - of course the body shape isn't a perfect fit by any means.

I'm not into 'pop cult' figures, but I'd buy that! :D

I knew there was a use for those Schleich Minis! Great work. There aren't enough phorusrhacids out there.
