I'm considering purchasing this lovely Rex by Papo, but it looks quite odd the more I look at it. Is it anatomically accurate? I don't think a Rex can pose like that.

I don't know which one you mean, but no, none of the Papo figures are particularly accurate. They're more artistic figures that aim for style and detail over science.

I have just updated my post, some reason the image of the figure isn't showing up.

No, the Papo figure is based on the JP rex design. Not anatomically accurate to what we know of Tyrannosaurus (the real deal).

If you're patient I'd wait for PNSO's inevitable lipped rex. But there are plenty of other good options on the market like Eofauna's one.

If the image somehow doesn't display, the figure in question is;

Papo T.rex is a Jurassic Park Rexy copy. It's based on this:

Could T.rex rear up like that? Most likely but not a neutral pose.

Papo is not good for scientifically accurate dinosaurs.

If you think it looks lovely, then it's a good purchase anyways.
That's a starter model for many people here due to how easy to find and relatively cheap it is for the level of detail and size.
It's indeed a very nice one, despite not resembling the real animals too much, Papo models look very impressive in person with a lot of life to them.

Yep, my first Tyrannosaurus was a Papo one (although it was the even less accurate running version). Long since sold off, but Papo is definitely a good hook into the hobby.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

That Papo tyrannosaurus (in fact the older green version) was the restart of my collection as an adult. So definitely I consider it a very good figure (not accurate) and I still own it.
