What should we have Safari Do? Step one Suggestions

Since posting justifications for our choices might go a long way towards actually getting them considered, here goes!

Since the other polls are closed, here are my mammal suggestions. (Btw, Doug has told us not to expect prehistoric mammals in 2016 or 2017, but since he made that clarification, I assume that means he's open to them in the future.)
Uintatherium is a no-brainer. About as "awesome-bro" as prehistoric mammals get, it's a giant rhino-type thing with a face covered in weird giraffe-like horns, and with saber-teeth to boot! Plus, it holds an important place in the history of paleontology. Most people know the story of the Brontosaurus/Apatosaurus screw-up, though as we found out this year, it wasn't really much of a screw-up at all. Uintatherium actually better represents the ridiculous extremes of Cope & Marsh's bitter rivalry: in their bid to outdo each other, and based on the most minute skeletal feature, they managed to erect at least 4 genera and God knows how many species, all of which were condensed to 2 species when other scientists were finally like "Whoa, lets dial this back a bit". It appeared in a couple of B-movies: Journey to the Beginning of Time (1955), and The Last Dinosaur (1977). As an added bonus, it's only ever been produced by rather obscure companies before, so there should be no current competition in the market.

Paraceratherium would be my next choice. The most massive land mammal to ever live is nothing to sneeze at. Full disclosure, I'm a 1:40 scale freak. I know Doug doesn't particularly care one way or the other, but since this hornless rhino is relatively plain looking when considering just its body shape, its massive size really needs to be emphasized to grab the kiddies' attention. 1/40 scale would make it just a bit comparable to the WS Brachiosaurus in terms of product dimensions, so no worries about taking up shelf space. Collecta to my knowledge is the only company to have produced a Paraceratherium to date, but it was a rather poor effort. The review on the blog notes that it looks more like Joe Camel than a giant rhino.

Deinotherium is a nice weird prehistoric elephant, and would definitely grab people's attention. Several other companies have tackled this creature, but none of them turned out particularly well, and I frankly trust Safari to get this right more than anyone else. I don't really have anything more to say about that.

Chalicotherium and its relatives are somewhat obscure, but seem to be getting popular with some toy companies. These bizarre hoofed mammals look rather like a combination of a horse and a giant ground sloth (which incidentally could mean potential cross-marketing with the fantasy crowd. This thing does kinda look like it belongs in Avatar: the Last Airbender!) It's a great demonstration of what truly bizarre directions evolution can take!

And finally, I would love to see a revival of Safari's classic prehistoric mammal line. Most of them were discontinued before I even knew to look for them, so all I have are the Andrewsarchus and Wooly Mammoth. (I also wouldn't mind seeing a Mastodon figure, as it is a historically important species, and a good Safari figure would go a long way towards clearing up the public's confusion between mammoths and mastodons. Perhaps that confusion is too entrenched, however, and would nullify Safari's interest in making one.)

Just to clarify I went back and checked my posts and what I said was "I am not promising mammals for 2016 or 2017 but at least now we have the option." So that is different from what you say I said I have never confirmed what I am or what I am not working on plus I have no idea what Safari Ltd has other artists working on.

Safari guess unfortunately will not make prehistoric mammals as Doug Watson says, because they are not marketable, such as dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures.

I understand that attempts both Safari and Schleich Bullyland give some examples to popularize such prehistoric creatures was a tremendous failure. Especially for the great mass of applicants who are not children and collectors, except smilodon mammut and other figures not are they of great interest to the vast buyers.  :-\

I haven't said that! I said I can not promise since I don't know and if I did I can't reveal it anyway. What I have said is now that the contract with Carnegie is finished Safari has the option to make them if they want to. I hope that is clear now!

Uintatherium is a good and interesting choice of prehistoric mammals. And something the market needs is a some elephant cousins. No matter is it a Mammoth, Mastodon or Platybelodon. Right now only figure like that worth getting in my opinion is CollectA's Deinotherium. There are many Mammoths made, but not any good ones.

Oh! Ok, padron my mistake. I've just been assuming all this time that you were the sole sculptor in charge of Safari's prehistoric line!

Oh, I forgot to add, if Safari doesn't feel like competing with the other Deinothere models on the market right now, they could go for the quad-tusked elephant Stegotetrabelodon instead! It's a pleasingly bizarre prehistoric elephant, and like chalicotheres could have potential cross-market appeal to the fantasy crowd, considering that it looks a lot like the war elephants from Lord of the Rings!
