I know there are a few around out there, but which one is perhaps the best, most comprehensive book of his paleo-art?

And yes... I'm on a big Cesta Do Praveku (Journey To The Beginning Of Time) kick right now. ;)
Jurassic Time is back... and this time, it will stay with you forever.

I'd recommend Life Before Man.

It has lots of really good quality, large paintings.

Thank you! Definitely looks like a good one!

EDIT:

OMG! Look at what I found! What a gold mine! Over 700 photo scans!

My, my! That flickr account is quite a treasure trove! I've been meaning to seek out more Burian artwork myself. I feel like he tends to be the more neglected member of the "Holy Trinity" of what we might call "Golden Age" paleoartists. Knight needs no introduction, and has had several retrospective books published about him as an artist, and Zallinger will always be remembered for "The Age of Reptiles/Mammals" and "The March of Progress" if nothing else. I don't hear Burian name-dropped quite as often as the other two, despite being just as prolific.

I definitely remember some of those pictures from the school library books when I was a child!

That one? I owned it once. The artwork is recycled from older books. Also only 62 pages.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Me too!  It really brought back memories.  For some reason the Hesperornis pictures immediately leapt out as familiar friends.  I guess Burian was responsible in part for kindling my interest in palaeontology.

It's wonderful how he depicted the animals as really seeming to be living creatures in a complex, lush environment and not just fleshed-out skeletons.

You´re right! This is also true for me!
