As the title may suggest I'm a long time lurker here on the DTF; it was about time I actually dropped by to say hello. I'm very much looking forward to acquainting myself with all the familiar faces I've come to expect on my visits to the forum, and although I don't anticipate sustaining a particularly active membership here I hope I can at least contribute something of worth to this amazing community. Despite having never even spoken to anyone I always feel welcome here - it's very assuaging to know that there are other people out there who share your interests and thoughts. So thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome (and I might add, Copper, that your repaints are very impressive) :).

Welcome, Turacin! Good choice of dinosaur, Strix are charming birds  :D

I was a member for 3 years before I started posting recently. The DTF is my favorite forum (even though I've never used another forum unless you count the isle). The community is very friendly and don't be afraid to state your opinion. If you have any questions on anything I'm sure we could help. Look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

Welcome to the posting arena and have fun!

Welcome! I do believe yours is the first username I've seen based on a pigment molecule.

Once again, thanks, everyone, for the welcome.

Indeed, one of my favourite, if not favourite, group of dinosaurs.

I can't say I've ever encountered another one, no. I must confess to be lacking in knowledge regarding biochemistry; as with any area of science it always seems a little inaccessible when your only source is the internet (because public secondary school's certainly do not teach it) but I hope to go on to have a more detailed understanding of it as I move forward with my education.
Was there any particular motive behind your choice of username? I know some wrasse are often used in biomechanical studies. Slingjaws are pretty cool but not a Halichoeres species, right?

Welcome!  I actually wrote reviews for the blog for a while before I even thought of joining the forum.

Plenty of organic and biochemistry to learn in college! That's where I learned it.

Slingjaws are in another genus, correct. I use Halichoeres because one of its species has a common name that appeals to my puerile sense of humor. A friend of mine uses that species in his research, and he was embarrassed to learn after an early conversation with his advisor that most people who work with it just use an abbreviation of its scientific name, specifically so they don't have to keep saying the common name.
