Diramix new for 2018

Where to begin? Diramix is offering a new set of large blind bag rubber figures, and this is the first series in a while to be predominantly prehistoric. They're calling it "Dinosauri Marini" but it contains exactly zero dinosaurs and at least some of the animals are freshwater.

ammonite
C. megalodon
Elasmosaurus
Helicoprion
Kronosaurus
Leedsichthys
Livyatan
Mosasaurus
Nothosaurus
Odobenocetops (a first from any company, to the best of my knowledge)
Orthacanthus
placoderm (looks like a repaint of their Dinichthys)
Stethacanthus
Tylosaurus
Umoonasaurus
and an anglerfish, which were probably around in the Cretaceous but don't show up in any numbers until the Eocene.

I admit I am tempted by the Leedsichthys, despite the fact that it appears to have teeth (it shouldn't!).

Oh dear, more marineys to add to my wants list. Some interesting species choices. I do wonder how long it will take for that soft plastic to perish, though.

Yeah, they don't seem terribly durable. I had a Pituriaspis rupture after only a few months.

The Odobenocetops is easily the most interesting out of the set.
Does Diramix keep producing older sets? Or do they retire them after each run?

Diramix is a company from Italy (and I'm from Italy too).
Diramix' target customers aren't collectors but young kids.
They sell stickers and cheap figures (into blind-bags) in stores near schools for children.

These days I'm trying to help a DTF member to buy some Diramix.
I've been checking Diramix' website for a month now to find old figures without success.
The "buy" button is still not available.
I'm not sure but it seems like all the older figures are gone now..

I will check again next days but I'm not so sure I will find them.

As I said, Diramix is for kids not collectors.

The Livyatan looks like a new sculpt, more Orca like with a taller dorsal fin.
The Leedsichthys's colours seems to be "inspired" by the Jurassic Park Builder one.

Yeah, as Robin indicated, it seems like they have them at retail for only a couple of months and then they sell any remaining stock through their web site, but they don't seem to remain in production.

I think you're right, Flaffy, about the Livyatan. First post adjusted accordingly. (Also, corrected the spelling of Odobenocetops, oops)

That also looks like a good culprit for the source of the Leedsichthys coloration, although the original just looks like someone said, "Hear me out guys, what if it's like a whale shark, but RED?"

I received an email from Diramix today.
The old figures are ALL out of stock and discontinued from June 2018 and can't be ordered anymore.
The new figures are in toy stores (here in Italy) right now as blind-bags only.
These new ones can't be ordered by website until January 2019.
After January 2019 all new figures will be available directly on the web-shop.
As I wrote before, Diramix are just cheap toys, not figures for serious collectors....

Thanks for the update Robin!
Might as well wait for some other more professional company make figures of these obscure creatures.
The international shipping from Italy is not worth it imo.

At least Safari and CollectA have created figures (even if mini sized) for most of these genus. I do have to give them credit where credit is due though, since most companies still don't even bother with the ones they make (like the ones from last year).

Edit: To be a bit more specific see the various tubes these companies have done (CollectA's prehistoric marine tube, and Safari has numerous, like the prehistoric shark toob, though retired/retiring), though I'm sure most here are aware of them already.

As I wrote before, Diramix' target isn't collectors but kids at school: so, why they should have an archive of rubber cheap toys to sell online when the real business is at toy stores near schools ?
It doesn't have any sense for them; I can fully understand.
They don't even sell internationally but locally, so..
Every business has its own target.
If it wasn't for an heroic DTF member, the forum would never know of Diramix at all. 

I'm far more disappointed with company like Battat: a great line of collectors' figures they won't sell anymore..

Yes I saw your earlier posts discussing and stating that, which is why I said what I said, since I know and wanted to point out that those companies have provided versions of those species for collectors (and kids). Although I'm sure most here are probably aware of those anyways. Still it is also nice to see some company create relatively obscure species (like Poraspis), even if these are not intended for collectors. It means that if this company can do it, then surely others can (if they have not already). It's just a matter of if they will. CollectA thankfully seems to be pretty open to creating obscure species, and Safari Ltd seems to be joining them in that regard.

Not very good figures, but very interesting choices. Bunch of Unique Species I think.
